THE SAINTS ARE REALLY THAT GOOD!!!!!!!!

Man, we're really that good. Tell me, how many teams in the NFL with a potent passing attack like ours, play with three of their top receivers out for the game, and still put up thirty four(34)points. I don't think NE, or INDY could do that. With Colston, Conwell, and Horn(he tried, but could'nt go) on the bench, our boys in BLACK and GOLD dominated the game with some very nice play calling. And finally, Bush, yes REEEGGGIE BUUUSH showed everybody outside the BLACK and GOLD NATION(we already know) why we drafted him second overall 160 plus yards from scimmage, 4, yes 4 TDS,(i guess that week one ankle injury is all healed up) that young man was a FREEK today. And the defense finally showed that it could totally shut down an offense with a potent rushing attack, Frank Gore is one of the top backs in the league, and he got nothing. NO TURNOVERS! None, for two weeks in a row, three(3) ints by the defense, two(2) by Mike McKenzie(HIGH FIVE). I just hope our SAINTS realize that if they don't turn the ball over, we'll dificult to beat. It don't care who we play. I'M LOVING IT! GO 1ST PLACE SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: THE SAINTS ARE REALLY THAT GOOD!!!!!!!!

It was a little sweeter win today due to Colston and Horn out, it showed me that we have play makers on this team and if a player is injured someone else will step it up, this team will be harder to beat once we get Horn and Colston back..

Yes, the Saints are really that good. And hopefully the Cowboys will find out how good, next week.

Ain't that the truth! There were alot of dropped balls by our WR's today. Colston & Horn are missed. We definately need Colston for the Dallas game. They are a good team on both sides of the ball.

blacksaint 12-04-2006 06:56 PM

Horn looked really gimpy when he went down sunday. But i think Colston should be back in time for the Dallas game. Man, Devery looked a lil shaky did'nt he, i hope those drops don't follow him to Dallas.

gandhi1007 12-04-2006 07:31 PM

#1 ranked offense in the entire NFL!!!!!!!!! How many times have we ever been able to boast about that?

Brann 12-04-2006 07:35 PM

The funny thing about that pic and that play by Reggie is that he didn't actually lose possession of the ball till it hit the ground. I always thought he'd have a monstrous game once defenses quit gearing up to stop him and take their chances with everyone else.

exiled 12-04-2006 07:42 PM

yes, they are that good - don't tell the cowboys.
It is amazing how good the saints are and still not considered by ANYBODY to go all the way.

WTF The are a terrific team.

I am ready for for that game in Feb that shall go un named!

Euphoria 12-04-2006 07:47 PM

We aren't that good... hell it was the 49er's!!! Look what happens when we play against a team that matters... yikes! I don't care if we make the play offs or not at this point... alll I want is to beat the cowgirls this weekend, that is all that matters!!!

What? How does winning one individual game matter? If I had to make a choice of winning this Cowboys game or getting into the playoffs it's not even close. It's about the big picture not just about sticking it to the cowboys.

pumpkindriver 12-04-2006 08:15 PM

Euphoria, I have to disagree with you. We are that good. Every one of our losses can be traced to one thing, TURNOVERS!!! When we don't turn the ball over, we have been unstoppable. Even the Raven's vaunted defense didn't stop us, but we gave them the ball early and often. And who are these teams that matter? The only one that was important in the tie breakers was the Panthers, our other 3 losses have been to AFC North teams, who are pretty far down on the tie breaker list so we are doing pretty good in our division and in the conference. We pretty much control our own destiny, we win out and we wrap up the division, the 2nd seed and a bye. All in all thats a pretty good position to be in right now.

I guess in Euphoria's eyes sweeping the Falcons doesn't matter now.

Euphoria was talking that junk right before the Falcons and Eagles games. Basically any team we beat doesn't matter. If we beat Dallas he'll say they didn't matter either.

Euphoria 12-04-2006 10:18 PM

Falcons are stinking up the joint, we should beat them. The question states "are we that good". What the hell does that mean... Good enough to be a SB champ? Good enough to be NFC champs. Ravens spanked us, it was embarrassing but I guess no one seen that game. Excuse me for being a bit grounded and realistic and only thinking of the game at hand and not thinking of the Pro Bowl geez how retarded of me. Lets see well maybe I'll wear my black shorts and gray shirt while I sit on my sofa and watch the Pro Bowl... Nothing in the past weeks matter, nothing after the Dallas game matters, what matters is getting a win against Dallas.

No I don't see anyone mentioning Pro Bowl or SB or anything like that but so often you like to ridicule any of us that think that this may be a special team this year. The Falcons right now are the same Falcons that they were at the beginning of the year. Teams aren't any worse just because they lost to us. Maybe it's that we are better. In your eyes if you think "that good" means good enough to win the SB this year, probably not. Fact is no other team in the NFC is either. The Bears????? Rex will be their undoing. He's much worse than Trent Dilfer was to the Ravens and he'll cost them a SB. The Cowboys???? They are one bad game away from a T.O. meltdown. Lets not even talk about the Seahawks. I live up here in Seattle and can see first hand that they are not that good at all. They had the luxury last night of playing against a rookie making his first start. Plummer plays that game and they lose no doubt. Other than that they play in the weakest division in the NFL. I like our chances against anyone in the NFC right now quite honestly.

SaintPauly 12-05-2006 12:23 AM

I have to agree with gold rush. The NFC is wide open right now, and let's face it, over all, not that good. I honestly think the worst AFC team, could give the best NFC team a nail biter. Who is the best NFC team? I mean, the Bears by record, but I've watched alot of Bears games, and don't see them as unbeatable. Besides the Bears, there's the Cowboys, and I don't see them as an elite unit either. I really don't like to look to far ahead, no matter what is going on in the world, but I've got to point this out. Who else, in the NFC besides the two teams I mentioned, do we have to fear? I know anything can happen on any given Sunday, but reallisticly, there is not one team that I see as a threat.

I'm going to give major props, to some guys who haven't been given too much credit this season. The O-line. Fewest sacks allowed in the league. That's something to say. These guys really started clicking early. Also cudos to our line coach.

Dallas has a decent secondary. This weekend is a must win in my eyes as well. It will show us all, just how great this team really is.

Euphoria 12-05-2006 01:42 AM

Defense wins championships...

SaintPauly 12-05-2006 04:27 AM

I seem to remember the year the Rams won the SB, their defense was ranked 10th, or 11th. The same with the first year the Patriots won. If our defense can hold, like they did against the Niners, and the Falcons, then we should be fine.

Sarsippius 12-05-2006 09:36 AM

I believe Euphoria is really Randy Quaid from Major League 2.

SapperSaint 12-05-2006 09:59 AM

I think Euph is right. This game does matter if they win or lose. After this week next week, and the week after. Can they beat a team that is on a hot streak? If they do (I pray for it) make the playoffs they will face the Cowboys again...and with two losses against them ( if they don't win this week) who do you think will have the upper hand.

Euph, you don't have CPT Sunshine as a title for nothing, but in this instance..I'm with you.

Play the week not the season.

By the way, way to go Reggie

You sir are incorrect. St. Louis was in the top 10 in both total defense and scoring defense. In fact they were #4 in scoring defense.

Not in scoring. They were 6th that year.

No disagreement there. I think the key is going to be keeping Romo in the pocket. He's most dangerous when he rolls out and gets time to scan downfield.

Sorry if you're O is in the top 10 and your D is in the top 10... then you damn good. You don't have to be number one to win a SB but you have to be up there though.

I knew they weren't #1 in defense, wasn't sure about position. Point was with the number one offense, if we can squeeze at least #10 defense outta these guys, I like our chances. Losing Thomas isn't going to help though.

Romo has moves. I agree on the roll outs. This game is going to be interesting to say the least.

SapperSaint 12-05-2006 03:44 PM

#1 offense don't alway bring home a victory.

I'm not saying we have a great defense but it really bits my butt to listen to comentateors say our Saints have NO DEFENSE. For them to hold ATL, Dunn and other "great rushing teams" to low yardage speaks volumes to me. Yea, they could be a little more dominating but all in all I'm happy with 'em.

Euph,

Your point was my old signature. The last SB winning team that finished the regular season outside the top 10 in scoring defense was the 1983 Raiders, who were 13th.

The stat is so predictive it's scary.

January/February football is about running the ball and stopping the run. If you can't do those two things, you are not going to get to the top of heap.

SFIAH

blacksaint 12-05-2006 10:22 PM

8-4, out of those eight victories, how many were college teams? None, all are members of the NFL. Out of 32 teams in the NFL, only 8 are 8-4 or better, we're 1st in our division, and 2nd in the NFC, i know you can find someting positive out of that.

CHACHING 12-06-2006 08:03 AM

I know it doesn't happen often but I agree with Euph on this one..
We realy need to beat Dallas this Sunday for the simple fact that they are the talk of the NFC by every network and sportswriter in the 50 states.
(almost no mention of us and we lead the div by 2 games)

Look at it this way....you gotta beat the boss to be the boss.
Besides, if Seattle can go 3-2 without thier 2 franchise players we should be able to beat the Cowboys with the injuries we have...
IMO.

Or in the words of the Immortal Ric Flair "To be da Man, you gotta beat da Man! You gotta walk that aisle!! Woooo!!!" 8)

These words ring true enough, but enough is quite enough already. I've always maintained that every week this team has to revalidate its legitimacy to the rest of the skeptical league bloggers, largely due to the stigma of our past failures. So we go out and win. Then someone says something like "...but the team they beat wasn't ________(your excuse here)".

Frankly, I'm tired of feeling like the fargin' Rodney Dangerfield's of the NFL. Trying to prove your worth gets old, especially this deep into the season. By even the most optimistic, dope-smoking, Saint's fans standards, this team has OVER achieved in dramatic fashion this season. At the beginning of the season, NO ONE thought they'd be where they are now in week 12, so why not sit back and enjoy the ride!
And Oh, WHAT A RIDE!!!!! :D

Euphoria 12-06-2006 11:53 AM

Yeah we can argue all day that all that matters is the Win / Lose columns but when the skeptics sit down and really look at a team on paper, look at the talent and look at the numbers... you'll even start to see a contridiction in the Stats and the win/loss record of the Saints. hince the reason we get no respect. We don't go out there and win by dominating... our Defense looks bad, hell horrible at times. We can't stop the run, we can't stop a drive when we have to. We are consistant on offense as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot.

So the question is posed... 'are we that good', and you can see its argumentative because if you look at everything and base 'that good' as whatever you want - realistically you can say we are not that good! vice versa... we have a long ways to be a champion but at least we are going in the right direction.

With all that said we are in a situation were we have to beat the Cowboys. They are hottest team in the NFC right now is the Cowboys. Early in the season you beat teams that are suppose to be good and turns out there records are average at best then you beat an average team. Now we get a win this weekend all eyes are on New Orleans.

I find it very strange that this year more than any other looks like our best chance at getting into the Superbowl.

blacksaint 12-06-2006 04:57 PM

Yo, everybody out there, our boys are really that good. I'm mean, nobody else went out there and won those eight games but us, nobody. What do they have to do to get respect, you say they have to win, eight games thru the first twelve, i would consider that winning. Do you think the Giants, Eagles, Rams, Panthers, Falcons, Packers, Steelers, Buccaneers, Dolpins,( just to name a few) would love to have our record right now? You can nic-pic every team on top of their division, and you will find that none of them are without their own flaws. We're not where we want to be right now, but you got to love where we're at, and that's 1st place in the division, 2nd place in the conference, it don't matter what nobody say, I'm extremly proude of the job they've done so far. GO 1ST PLACE SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
