Five reasons Saints will be dangerous down stretchBy Keith Kidd

With a win Sunday over the 49ers, the Saints (8-4) continue to position themselves for the NFC South title. Here are five reasons the Saints are going to be dangerous down the stretch.

Sean Payton: Payton is one of the NFL's best play callers. The Saints are effective when they spread the field, creating individual mismatches on the outside that they can attack. The bottom line is the players love playing for this first-time NFL head coach who has easily positioned himself for coach of the year honors.

Rolling with Drew Brees: Brees must continue to play at the MVP level he has showcased all season. He has been outstanding in the Saints' West Coast offense. Payton's offense requires the quarterback to play mistake-free while managing the game. Brees has the ability to make all throws in the passing game, which places a lot of pressure on defenses. This team will go as far as Brees takes it.

Two-headed RB monster: Reggie Bush, who had 168 yards (rushing and receiving) and four TDs Sunday, places a lot of pressure on opposing defenses because you must account for him on every down. Deuce McAllister, who rushed for 136 yards against the 49ers, is among the most talented running backs in the league when healthy. The Saints must continue to rely on the combination of McAllister and Bush.

Defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs: Defensively, the Saints continue to rely on their up-field attacking schemes to disrupt the flow of opposing running games. Gibbs has done a great job using his personnel to match up with opposing offenses. He has his unit playing with a lot of confidence and flying around the football.

Confidence: The Saints are getting hot at the right time and playing with confidence. They must continue to play with this swagger as they position themselves to be the front-runner in the NFC South and possible No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs.

I think Brees knows that when he plays poorly the whole team does as well...Just listening to the guy you can tell that this affects him and wants to play well so his team can win...What can we say other than that is the attitude that NO has not had in a long time if ever...
