Depth chart

I just noticed that Todd Bouman is no longer on the team and we only list two quarterbacks. Don't we have an emergency quarterback?

So we're just going to revert to running the single-wing? Do we actually spend practice time on that or are we just hoping we never need it?

RE: Depth chart

Many teams only dress two QBs and list a RB or WR as emergency QB. Though not unheard of, it's rare that two QBs will go down (and out) in the same game. Payton is taking the risk (calculated) so he can dress more players he can actually use. On special teams, defense, etc...

Ask the Packers if it happens. After Farve got hurt a few games ago, Rodgers went in and was injured, on the next play I think. I notice that Bouman is now their #2 behind Farve. Did we trade him and if so, what did we get?

No, the pack picked him up as a free agent. The Saints never resigned him back from last year.

Or put Bush in the shotgun and run that Wildcat thing that the Razorbacks do.

hey Poydras, please do me a huge favor and knock on some wood, this post has jinx writen all over it... its like on tv when they say something like, "this kicker hasn't missed in 37 attempts," and he proceeds to miss... I know I'm a "little" superstitious, but I really don't want to see Brees go down... nothing personal, just an observation

I know you didn't ask me to but I have knocked on every piece of wood in the house save one.

Has anyone noticed if Jamie Martin has played at all this year? To my knowledge, he hasn't.

Our emergency QB was our number 3 Tight End Nate Lawrie from Yale, who never played QB before. They just saw that he could throw the ball during warm-ups, and had to know pass routes and run blocking schemes due to being a tight end. Plus being from Yale he probably had some smarts. Thing is we cut him a few weeks ago, so now I'm curious who our number three is.
Is Jason Fife still on our practice squad?

JOESAM2002 12-14-2006 09:56 PM

Bouman was cut at the end of training camp leaving McPherson as our number three. However he never made it either. As of now we don't have an emergency QB. As for Martin, he has not played this year but did look good in training camp. Plus he has experience.

P.S. I just looked at the Saints official depth chart and it shows no emergency QB.

Last heard Fife was on the practice squad...They had him on the roster for a few weeks early in the season, I think Payton may have been a little nervous about Brees' shoulder early on...

We need an emergency QB...quick Loomis somebody call Jeff George..LOL
