Too many attempts at the home run shot in the 4th qtr.

The Drew Brees interception was an attempt at getting greedy when they had a decent drive going.

Then on the final drive where there should have been no reason for the #1 ranked offense in the NFL to come up short, they did. Why? Because they absolutely wasted 2 downs on trying to hit the home run shot in the end zone. For what purpose? Get the damn first down, then you've got 4 shots at the end zone with 45-plus seconds left. Instead, they try Colston in the right corner of the end zone while he was double covered, then they try Copper in the end zone on 4th and 8.

I'm glad Payton has the attitude that they can score from all over the field.....but sometimes ya just gotta play smarter football and be patient.

I don't think that was the only reason why they lost that game, they lost this game last Monday. We really keep forgetting that this is a very young team, they still don't know how to put great a win like last Sunday behind them, give them time they'll be alright. Besides, they're the NFC SOUTH CHAMPS,and they're PLAYOFF bound. Do you think Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and Carolina, wish they we're where the Saints are? You dam right they do. GO NFC SOUTH DIVISION CHAMPION SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it was that the Skins scored more points....

But seriously, the o-line got pushed around today, and both Taylor and Springs decided to show up... give propers to the Skins.

For as good as the Skins were today.....that doesn't change the fact that the Saints had the ball at what? the 20 yard line or so? with an opportunity to get a first down with less than a minute to go, and one time out left. At that point, you can throw out the Interception, you can throw out the sacks, the big chunks of yardage given up, and all that jazz......the Saints blew a perfectly good opportunity because they wanted too much, too soon. Why the big hurry to score with a minute left? So Jason Campbell can guide the Skins into field goal range to win the game after the Saints take the lead by 1?

Plus it just seemed like the Saints were always a step or 2 off for most of the game. On the 4th and 8 pass to Copper, if it gets thrown 2 seconds sooner it's probably a TD. That being said, the pass shouldn't have been thrown anyway, because they should have simply focused on getting a first down over there middle.

In ANY case....hats off the Saints though for finally breaking a 6 year playoff drought. My gut feeling tells me the Saints won't be quite as easy to beat in their Dome playoff game in January...

I am happy that they won the divison, but this lost hopefully won't mean much. If they win the last two games they get the bye week. I think they can beat the last two teams.

You're sort of dancing around the point, but you have the right of it. The play calling yesterday was atrocious. Wrong plays called in the wrong situations, and those played in the red zone were just the last examples of it for the day.
