this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Does anyone agree that all the conservative play call in the fourth quarter almost lost us the game. Especially when we were dominating the game after a scoring drive. Then we toned down too much and couldn't get started again. ...

Does anyone agree that all the conservative play call in the fourth quarter almost lost us the game. Especially when we were dominating the game after a scoring drive. Then we toned down too much and couldn't get started again. Tampa Ran out of gas at the end, special teams had to win it because our offense was out of sync!! great win though :red:

ABSOLUTLY, I AGED 20 YEARS IN THE LAST 3 MINUTES OF THE GAME. I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY A COACH WILL PLAY A GAME \"NOT TO LOSE\" THAN TO WIN THE THING OUTRIGHT. PLAY THE LAST MINUTES THE SAME AS WHAT GOT YOU THE LEAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. BE AGGRESSIVE, AND GO FOR THE THROAT.
AS SOMEONE ONCE SAID\" KILL THEM ALL, LET GOD SORT THEM OUT\"

Why do you all think the Saints were so conservative?? When you are on the 3 yard line to open a drive, you have no choice but to run. Look at what can happen (sack, penalty, turnover). All of those result in points for the other team in that position.

If anything disastrous of the sorts would have happened, we\'d be having a conversation about how the Saints broke our hearts. And there was no question that the TB defense was more pumped than any other point in the game.

Always smart is better than stupid

I agree that we played not to lose the whole 4th quarter. If you look at the teams that consistantly win the close ones it\'s because they play to win. Now this doesn\'t mean being stupid and start throwing the ball on every down but I would\'ve liked to seen a few passes on first down or a good screen pass to the left side to Deuce and to constantly dictate to the defense, not the defense dictate to us. It\'s equal to playing prevent defense and letting a team march all the way down the field to get right back in the game. I think the coaching staff will learn from this and hopefully we\'ll learn what it feels like to win the close ones! GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!

Playcall stunk up the field in the 4th quarter. I was nervous the whole time and it looked like the team of old with Mora. It was sad. We have to stop doing that if we ever want to make it to the next level.

The play no to lose attitude has always been with the saints and obviously hasnt changed this year. Duece should have seen the ball throught the air in the 4th. As versatile as he is he could have made something happen to the outside. Duece running into the heart of sapp and Mcfarland is not the way to get a whole lot of yards.

We did get a bit conservative.......whew!!!!!!! But to compare it to Mora. I never heard Haslett say we sucked once in his post game comments, let alone 23 times.

We got a lot more than a bit conservative. Joe Horn had 6 catches in the first half 2 in the second. Stallworth 3 first half 1 second. Pathon didnt even show up for the game. Sloan 1 catch 1st half Williams 1 catch first half neither had one in the second. Way to conservative. Hit em when they are down. I hate that kind of play calling. If you leave someone in a fight to long they will hit you
