Is it just me or is there more to this than meets the eye? Havnt heard a word about him. Does anyone have an inside veiw of what is going on with Joe?

Horn to miss third consecutive game
Payton hopes he'll play vs. Panthers

A nagging groin injury will sideline Saints wide receiver Joe Horn for Sunday's road game against the New York Giants, but he said he hopes to play in the regular-season finale against Carolina.

Saints Coach Sean Payton downgraded Horn from questionable to doubtful Friday, meaning he will miss his third consecutive game and fifth this season.

"He made some progress this week, but I'm hopeful next week," Payton said.


Horn said he injured his groin in the weight room before the Baltimore game in Week 8 but still played against the Ravens. He sat out two games and returned to the lineup in Week 11. He re-injured his groin in the first quarter of the San Francisco game in Week 13 and has been sidelined since.

"I haven't met a player who partially tore his groin muscle and came back in three weeks," said Horn, who holds the franchise record with 50 touchdown receptions. "Nobody. I came back too soon, but that's my willingness to play. I thought it was just sore, so I played on it, but when I started running on it (against San Francisco) it got worse.

"It was a freak accident. I did it doing squats. That's what so frustrating about me sitting out right now. I know I didn't injure it on the football field; I injured it in the weight room. I'll be healthy the next time I get on the field. That's why I'm out right now. When I get back on the field I'm going to be rolling."

With 523 catches for 7,622 yards, Horn remains in pursuit of franchise records for receptions (532) and receiving yards (7,854) held by Eric Martin.

INJURY REPORT: Safety Omar Stoutmire (knee) also was downgraded from questionable to doubtful. Tight end Mark Campbell (knee) practiced but remains questionable.

TICKET UPDATE: The deadline for season-ticket holders to purchase playoff tickets was 6 p.m. Friday. Mike Stanfield, the vice president of ticket and suite sales, said business has been brisk, noting the day-long lines at the team's practice facility in Metairie. He said the team will address additional requests by season-ticket holders next week.

With us securing the bye, I hope to God Payton doesn't play him. We need him in the playoffs, not in a meaningless last regular season game.

i doubt the starters see a lot of action this last game against the panthers... theyll be out by at least halftime... more likely before that...

I think they will not play Joe against the Panthers, but hopefully he can play in the playoffs.

I hope they continue to rest Joe for the panthers. Some have said Joe is not as good as he once was. I say he is as good once as he ever was. We need his fire and presence for the playoffs.

I'm sure Payton will continue to rest Joe until the playoffs. Joe may not be quite as fast as he used to be but he can damn well still out play most of the Def. backs in this league. He brings a certain presence to the field and always makes clutch catches. We can only hope he is ready to go for the playoffs.

I think Joe is a gamer and will be ready for the playoffs. Colston healthy, Joe able to play, the emergence of Copper, and the way Bush and McAllister is playing together, it's going to be tough to lock down this offense come playoff time. I just hope our defense plays as well as they did the Giants game for the entire playoffs. We get back Hollis Thomas and this should help the run defense.

I rather let him sit so we can have him at 100% for the playoffs. He's a seasoned veteran... I don't think he'll be that rusty when its gametime.

After the season, if Horn ooesn't take a pay cut, I think he's a goner. We've proved that we don't desparately need him.

Yea, but i'd sure like to see him retire a Saint. He deserves it.
