BEARS FAN HERE

Ok, I'm from the Chicagoland area and I came across your site and saw some of the stuff you guys are talking, about so I signed up. Im not here to run my mouth or try and be an internet tough guy with people who live 2 thousand miles away from me. I respect the Saints and know that it will be a challenge for us in our quest for the super bowl, but I am very confident that Da Bears can take care of business on Sunday. I read somewhere that said that the Bears fans are classless, which is very untrue. We have all the respect in the world for the Saints but we feel given the conditions at Soldier Field on Sunday we will be victorious, but yet the Saints can come here and beat us, were very aware of that. I also read on here that Grossman was looking past you guys, which is very untrue. He never said anything like that. He just said that theyre one win away from a super bowl birth. I keep reading that the Bears defense cant stop Drew Brees and your offense, and that you guys have better defensive linemen and better recievers than us, and most of you on here are all but guaranteeing a win, but let me tell you something, when you think like that, that is when you lose. We tought last year,we thought that we we gunna destroy the Panthers and were saying the same things that you guys were saying...well we ended up losing.....so dont get too confident... We know that all of America will be pulling for you because of the whole Hurricane thing and that you guys are a Cinderella story, but make no mistake, when you guys come to Chicago on Sunday, no one and I mean no one, is gunna fell sorry for you guys, at all. good luck on Sunday and BEARDOWN!!!!! Come on through to Lake Shore Drive and we'll be waiting. GO BEARS!!!!

Come Sunday, Mr. Brees will become aware of who Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs are.

kojakhinton 01-16-2007 01:31 PM

nice post, and we appreciate your coming on here and being civil. i have a few questions for you
1. do you think thomas/benson are better than deuse/bush?
2. do you think grossman/muhammad/berrian are better than brees/colston/henderson/copper/and or horn?
3. do you think your think da bears "d" is better than da boys "d"?

ok im not stupid you do have one of the best middle linebackers in the game, but he's 1 player, and our "d" steps up when needed.

i honestly dont believe it will be close, i cant see your "o" scoring more than 10 pts

just my opinion

papz 01-16-2007 01:40 PM

On the Grossman looking past us... I agree with you payton. As far everything else... it's hunting season baby! I need a rug for my fireplace.

I think that Cedric Benson is better than all of the above, but he doesnt get the amount of carries that he deserves so u guys dont hear a whole lot about him. as far as defense, everybody wants to talk about our D like its nowhere to be found... well lets see, we lost Mike Brown In the first quarter of the season and Tommie harris about 2 months ago and we still manage to have the 5th best defense in the entire league. you said we have one of the best linebackers in the league when in fact we have 2 of the best linbackers in the league in Lach and Briggs.... i think our return game is better...lets face it Bush doesnt compare to hester...as far as grossman and all the other skills players are concerned. I think that moose matches up well with your guys secondary cuz thats where u guys are vunerable.. i saw the bombs that garcia was throwing on u guys last week and if and when Bernard gets a step on the DB their gunna take a chance and I think he can burn any one of ur corners.. but u failed to mention Rashied Davis who is gunna be a big factor cuz he catches everything in sight and isnt afraid to get hit. its gunna be a close game cuz its the playoffs and thats how the games are. its gunna be real cold and its been snowing here the past 2 days and might snow on sunday...and i know that one of your biggest fears is the weather, cuz u guys are a dome team and its usually warm down there regardless, but remember this, Soldier Field is right on the lake and its always about 8-10 degrees colder there and the wind blows alot harder, so when u look up the weather forecast on weather.com just remember its gunna be a lot colder than it says and the wind chill is gunna be a lot colder.. so throwing the ball will be more difficult.. Especially for Drew Brees whos is used to San Diego and now New Orleans, I know he played at Purdue, but theres a huge difference between a 50 degree day in November and a 15 degree day in late January on the lake....BEARDOWN EVERYONE!!

papz 01-16-2007 02:06 PM

Talk about being a biased Bear fan... you honestly with a straight face can say that Benson is better than Deuce, Bush, and Jones? That's delusional. He can't even beat out Jones for the starting nod.

I also want to point out that how many games have Grossman played the pass 4 years during this time of the year? Exactly.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/player...?playerId=4480

Rashied Davis who? Oh, this Rashied Davis.

on sunday you'll see what Im talkin about, when Ced gets the ball, everybody in the city wanted him to be the starter but for some reason they are set in their ways, and as far as grossman goes... he grew up in bloomington Indiana so he's no stranger to the cold weather and he has been here for 4 years...granite he has been hurt but he knows what its all about. BEARDOWN

papz 01-16-2007 02:25 PM

Grossman is from Bloomington and? He's been on the pine the past 4 years during this time. You question Brees because he's played at Purdue and San Diego? What teams do Purdue and San Diego play every year? Here's a list of some for you...

Michigan St., Minnesota, Penn State, Denver, KC, New York, Pittsburg, Cleveland, etc.

I think my point has been made. I think Grossman has way more to worry about than Brees when it comes to that Chicago weather.

RE: BEARS FAN HERE

Thank you for your biased opinion. Now let me give you mine. If the Saints win the turnover battle this sunday, you`ll be watching the Saints in the Superbowl.

Are we too confident of a victory sunday? hmm, is that surprising? Bears went 13-3, but look at the schedule. Grossman had a decent game last sunday, he`s due for a blunder. If the weather is a factor it`ll be a factor on both sides. If weather brings it down to a running game, I`ll take that match up.

As far as the Katrina factor, we`re not looking for any sympathy from Chicago or the media. It`s been tough here, real tough, and your right, alot of Americans have jumped on the Saints bandwagon this year. Where were they last year when we went 3-13 and nearly lost our franchize?

May the best team advance to Miami.

I appreciate you Bears' fans' enthusiasm. We New Orleanians are thrilled to have the opportunity to prove on the gridiron how the team we support stacks up against the only other team left standing.

I'm sure you think that the Saints are just a charitable chicken dinner for the Bears before the main event in Miami. The Eagles fans and team believed that also. I don't think you'll find anyone that claims to be a Saints fan to be a total homer - we acknowledge quite readily where the weaknesses of this team are and we are loathe to get too excited about any strength given our history. But you will find we don't suffer fools.

If you've got an opinion, back it up with facts we can check. Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life and won't get you very far in this forum.

And take your pity elsewhere. Despite the illusion that the Federal Governement is doing a great deal to help the city recover, little if any of the moneys allocated have been disbursed. All the recovery that's happened so far is from the sheer will of the natives. We know that any success we've achieved has been earned with a stifling load on our backs.

Good luck, play well, buy a refundable ticket.

I am aware that Reggie Bush was the second pick of last year's draft. I am not sure you are all aware the Cedric Benson was picked 1st round, 4th overall pick a few years ago. He has not been given the chance he needs to be successful because he held out of training camp and Thomas Jones' work ethic makes it hard for Lovie and the coaching staff to just forget what he is and has done for the team. Cedric is a downhill runner and a damn good one. He is our RB for the future. Do not make the mistake of thinking the Bears have a lackluster running game. If so, u are in for a long Sunday. Good luck and may the best team win. BEARDOWN

I'm pretty sure everyone here is aware of what Benson accomplished at UT and know where he was drafted. We all know he hasn't been given a chance because Thomas Jones out played him. We know Benson's running style. We know he's your RB of the future.

But where out of this thread has anyone said that you guys have a lackluster running game? Where in this thread is anyone underestimating Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson?

Hey I read in an article (please don't ask where...I think I got the info from nola.com/saints) but Robbie Gould kinda sorta cheated. During commercial break Gould was seen practicing feild goals backing up in increments of 5 yards By the the time he got to like the 40 someone finally noticed and told him to get off the feild. .(As a Dolphin fan as well this kinda reminds me of the early 80's playoff game where that convict started clearing out the snow so the Patriots kicker had a clearer shot at the ball and planting his foot. But the dolphins who tried one earlier did not get such treatment.) He admitted that all that practice allowed him to decipher exactly how and where he needed to kick the ball. Wow...talk about confidence. Your own kicker needs to make sure how to kick the ball before he officially has to? Pathertic. And what makes me even angrier is that becuz of his "practicing" we are playing away instead of in NO. GARBAGE!!!!!!

lumm0x 01-17-2007 03:28 AM

I have a couple of comments here.

First of all, I just want to show appreciation for the Bears fans who dropped in here and have to a decent degree maintained composure and genuinely tried to present some rational arguements why they believe the Bears will come out ahead this Sunday.

All fans go at it with blind faith, just trying to will their team to win. It's always nice when some fans can try to add some insight and research into it as well.

Likewise, I believe our Saints will prevail this weekend. I really don't think the weather is going to factor in at all in the Bears favor. The field difference may, as our offense is less explosive on natural grass as opposed to turf though. After watching last weekends matchups, oddly enough I am glad we are facing the Bears instead of the Seahawks. The Hawks were a banged up team on both sides of the ball and the Bears really struggled to pull out that win. The defense had alot of trouble stopping what really is a very inadequate offense in Seattle. And Seattle's defense is less than stellar, and even against a patch work secondary missing pretty much every starter, the Bears passing game was just above average.

I will say this, if the Bears show up with that same game they played they will have whiplash watching us race past them. I'll start with the Bears offense. Last week was a pretty decent performance when it comes to Grossman. He limited his mistakes and was relatively effective. Our defense struggles against a couple of things. Speed in the run game, defending screen plays and preventing the deep ball. The Bears only do one of those things effectively and I think our coach knows that all too well. I also believe we can pound alot more pressure on Grossman that Seattle was capable of. They were limited because of their secondary and could rarely blitz. I believe we will produce more pressure than Grossman can handle. And the lack of speed on your run game will bring it to a plodding halt if you get down in points. The only thing that concerns me is the deep ball to Berrian or Davis. I'm only hoping Payton has something figured out to help in that area. I assume we will give up a big play or two.

Your defense, partly due to injury, and partly to simply having to be your entire source of victory in games is like it or not declining. Missing Harris and Brown are taking it's toll. Your secondary is becoming one of the worst tackling groups in the conference. I equate Philly's back 4 pretty close to the Bears and we were running circles on them. Your LBers and DEs are formidable. But we have the best protection offense you've faced all year and if you fail to get pressure you will fail to stop us. Your defense relies on Urlacher and Briggs to make all the plays. I know the creativity of our coach will have our playbook designed to have them going sideline to sideline all day long. I can believe by late in the game your defense will be giving up yardage in chunks. They have shown lately that they simply are not the dominant group they are when fully healthy and united.

With that said, your regressing defense, lack of consist and diverse offense, and general disregard for the opponent you are about to face are about to bite your team in the arse. I do believe the Bears are thinking Super Bowl, whether the fans can admit it or not. What many do not realize is that our team has never been this far before. Ever. This game Sunday is our Super Bowl. It is the most important game in the 40 year history of a franchise and the players have had the hopes and dreams of an entire region on their shoulders ever since proving we are for real this year. I say that the Saints come out of the gates as we did week 3 versus the Falcons, with a passion and fervor unmatchable. I don't think the Bears will know what hit them, and they will realize 60 minutes later that an unstoppable force just blew threw town.

Goodnite Bears.

bigsexy 01-17-2007 03:39 AM

Hurricane Katrina was two seasons ago. The NFL has gravy-trained our hardluck situation for the second year after Benson tried to move us with no success from the owners. Nobody loves our team except the fans and now, because of our success, the owners and the sob-story lovers. We will go to Chicago and beat that ass for America and defeat you terrorist sumbit****WOOO. And PS while you watch us play in the Super Bowl we have vacancies in the French Quarter.

bigsexy 01-17-2007 03:48 AM

Grossman has the worst QB rating of any qb in the postseason. Brees has the highest. Divide by pi and the teddy bears can't beat the Saints. DA SAINTS

Just like Vick did against the Bears last time we played the Falcons? Urlacher isnt scared of anyone! The only reasone Urlacher got juked against Brady is b/c he backed off thinking Brady was going to slide. He won't make that mistake with a QB ever again!

I' m tired of hearing people talk about the cold weather. Last time I checked both teams have to play under the same conditions. Besides how successful have the Bears been playing in January in the last 5 years, not very. So the only real advantage the Bears have in the cold is Tank Johnson because he's packing the heat.

hats off to you 34payton34
just for the use of #34. he was the greatest.
But Sunday you may just see the new sweetness of the NFL in Bush.
We saints fans still have a bit of a bad taste in your mouths when we played you guys a few years back and some of your low life fans, we all have them, hammered a group saints fans with ice balls not snow balls.
I lived there for two years and love the gold coast in the summer so I know they do not represent the best of the bears fans. But some of us do remeber.
Enough of that. I am tired of cutting and pasting this on our web sites and will do one more time.

When you look at the teams and the match of your defense and our offense against one another, this could be an epic battle. Drew Vs. Brain. Who knows this match up may go for years. We only can hope. Two of the top players in the NFL on opposing sides battling it out with the play calling. Sweet

This will be the 11th time since the merger that a conference's top-ranked offense (New Orleans) is facing the top-ranked defense (Chicago). In the first 10 such matchups, the top offense has defeated the top defense seven times. In two of those games, the top offense shut out the top defense (Cowboys over Rams in 1978; 49ers over Bears in 1984). http://www.superbowl.com/news/story/9937316

The real key is which team will win on the opposite side of the ball. Saints defense Vs. Bears offense.

Which Bears QB will show up???????? You guys are not even sure.

Can the Saints get a good enough pass? Can the Saints LBers control the run enough to keep the Bears under 175 yards rushing? Can the Saints secondary give up no more than 1 big play? I have to answer yes, IMO. While the D is not ranked in the top 10 they have faced all the so called hottest teams late in the season and done well enough to win.

By the way the saints defense is ranked 11th. Bears offense is 19th.

Advantage Saints

This should be like all the other playoff games this year and be a battle to the end. The weather is your best friend right now. Our is it? Can the kid from Florida throw in the cold well enough to win? Another untested tid bit. Drew will be fine remember he was a boilermaker and closton is a new yorker. There are more than a few cold weather players on the saints so maybe it wont be as big of an issue as we think.

Hester scares me I must admit. Man he was a steal.

What should scare the Bears is the fact the Saints were a better road team this year than a home team. By the way you have to admit the rest of the NFC North was lame this year also when you compair records.

Best of luck and may you take the beating well.

JOESAM2002 01-18-2007 09:00 PM

You know everybody is talking about Hester, sure he's run back six for touchdowns. He also bobbles a few. He did last week.

We sometimes forget, we have some pretty good special teamers too. Beerman and Bush ain't no slouches!

mighty12 01-19-2007 06:13 AM

I want a good game and that is all. It is the PLAYOFFS anyone can win, and anything can happen. I will be screaming Saints and bleeding Blackandgold all weekend, but if ,so be it,the Bears win I will still be proud of this team, and will still call this the greatest season of my life. So with that said GO SAINTS CRUSH THE BEARS!!!!!
