Aaron Ross
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 192 | 40-Time: 4.55

Official Bio

Strengths:
Great athlete with fluid hips...Has an almost ideal blend of size and bulk...Leaper with very good hands and ball skills...Playmaker with a knack for being in the right place...Gives a solid effort in run support and is a pretty powerful hitter...He plays faster than he times and has top recovery speed...Elusive in the open field and is also an excellent return man...Relatively productive despite limited opportunities.

Weaknesses:
Does not have a ton of starting experience...Is not very physical and needs to get stronger...May not have elite timed speed...Is raw in terms of his technique and footwork...Will miss some tackles at times...Instincts are questionable...Gambles and take too many risks...Gives big cushions...Was he simply a one-year wonder?

Notes:
Recipient of the Thorpe Award as college football's top defensive back...Did not become a starter until his senior year...It's hard to believe this guy was a nickel and dime back for most of his college career but that's what happens when you play with the likes of Michael Huff, Cedric Griffin, Nathan Vasher, Michael Griffin and Tarell Brown...Saw his stock soar this past year and quickly bypassed Brown as the Longhorns top corner...An intriguing prospect who is definitely on the rise.

Patrick Willis
Inside Linebacker | Senior | Ole Miss
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 240 | 40-Time: 4.60

Official Bio

Strengths:
A very good athlete...Has excellent instincts...Good speed and quickness with the range to go sideline-to-sideline...A big hitter and reliable tackler...Is strong and powerful...Was extremely productive...Versatile and could conceivably play either inside or outside...Good pass rusher on blitzes...Tough guy who will do whatever it takes to get on the field...Hard worker and a leader with top-notch intangibles.

Weaknesses:
Moves well and is adequate in coverage but nothing special and he can still stand to improve in that area...Needs to bulk up and get a little bigger...Plays too high at times...Gets overwhelmed by massive blockers...Has some durability concerns.

Notes:
Won the Butkus award as a senior...17-year-old brother, Detris, drowned in July of 2006...Has overcome a lot in his life to get where he is...Is heavily involved in community service...Is a great person and player who will be an asset to a team both on and off the field...Is simply one of the best linebackers available this year

I really like the way Samuels plays. I don't know if we'll be in his price range though.

Paul Polsluszny didn't he make the switch to the inside this year after playing outside last year?

Please Read for all who thinks that CLEMENTS will be cheaper than SAMUEL
http://www.democratandchronicle.com/...348/-1/COLUMNS

This should shut you guys up for a while, the guy wants to be the highest paid CB in the league, which is BS to what you guys have been saying about Samuel and us not being able to get him

Clements wants to be the highest-paid CB in the NFL. That might surprise the AP All-Pro voters but Clements picked an opportune time to be a free agent. He'll be the best CB available in an overall free-agent crop that many NFL talent scouts consider the weakest in many years.
I don't care what you guys think about Fred Thomas, he sucks and you guys know it, dime nickel no matter what he needs to be cut! I can't beleive you guys would try to blame even a speck of it on Bullocks when you guys know we play man to man. Its not Bullocks fault that he can't get into the box without having a CB getting BEAT ON EVERY PLAY! That's BS! Trying to blame Bullocks when Thomas is the one who can't play at all

Honestly, I'm scared we'll get Clements, Samuel or another CB in FA and they'll put on a Saints uni and all of a sudden start to suck.

Breath...

It doesn't sound like anyone is ready to absolve Thomas for his play this season. But, I'm not going to say that Thomas is....

getting BEAT ON EVERY PLAY!
makes me think you don't watch the games. Sure, he gets beat more than he should, but exaggerating won't get your point across. And we aren't playing Madden, either. Fred is in the final year of his contract with the Saints. It would be asinine to cut him now. Playing in nickle and dime packages would actually play to Thomas' strengths, and provide him with protection, instead of leaving him on an island by himself (when playing in man coverage).
Look past your man-crush on Bullocks...I can't count the number of times he bit on play-action, or he let the receiver get on top of him....he hasn't progressed this season like he should...I can't put it more simply than that.

The waiting drove me mad....

Bullocks actually regressed this season. You could see a difference in his play after Harper got injured. He consistently looked lost.

I second that motion, Brann. Oh....yes, Fred Thomas still sucks too.
