SNOW IN NEW ORLEANS

When Robbie Gould kicked that FG against The Seahawks and our road to Chicago was clear, that was the beginning of the uphill battle. In my opinion Coach Payton should have put his order in for two snow making machines and blown a constant inch of snow on the outdoor practice field and ran in the snow and mud all week. The weather in Chicago was definately predictable and so were the field conditions. Either Buck or Aikman had stated that Dome Teams playing in snow belt stadiums were 0-9. A couple game notes including The Bears picked up only one penalty the entire game, they almost pitched a shutout with the Ref's. Also when Deuce hobbled off the field and was bent over in pain I started to really worry. Although it looked as if the momentum had swung our way early in the second half but the turnovers were flying over us like an albatross. After the snow started picking up really made it hard to comeback.
I will say that we have a lot to look forward to next season, no major rebuilding. We have the right coaching staff a great QB two of the best RB's in the League not to mention outstanding recievers and a very solid team on O and D and S-T'S We definately have a few weak positions but not another large shopping list.
It was a rare treat for my eyes to see folks wearing The Black & Gold here in The Washington area. Folowing the team all these years is like a line from The Eagles song Hotel California " you can check out any time you want but you can never leave"
One last thing I'm not sure of what I am seeing with the word "boys" referring to the team. I thought that team in Dallas was using that nickname. RB

RE: SNOW IN NEW ORLEANS

I was at the game. It wasn't the weather. It was the game plan.

The Bears came into the game with the plan of running the football and stopping the run. The Saints let them do both.

12 carries isn't going to to it. We should have run Deuce even with 8 guys in the box.

It wasn't the weather. It was the Bears defense and the game plan. Plain and simple.

In every game the Saints lost (I believe) Brees threw the ball over 40 times. It's an indicator.

We win out right than we won't have to worry about playing in snow/sleet/mud, out of the 6 regular season loses we should have won at least 4 ofv those games

It may not have been the weather, but the footballs are not the same as in the dome. Players say the balls are harder, heavier and slicker in the cold weather.
Some ball did get away from Brees and his accuracy was not that great, even though he threw for 324 yards.

One thought for away outdoor cold games, cool the footballs down in a freezer or refrig to what the forecasted temp will be in the away game it may make a difference, kicking or throwing a heavier, wetter football outside is not the same as home in the dome.
