How do we see our QB depth?

Ok , we know we have the awesome Drew Brees .But beyond him ,how you guys think our Depth in that poistion favors? Should we be concerned?Or do ya think we can still pull it off with who we have? Hmmmmmm....just a thought?

I'd be concerned, by the way we blocked in that CHicago game and the amazing toughness of Brees I say if he went down we are doomed. I like Strief over Stinchcomb, he got beat every play this season luckily Brees has a quick release

our blocking not only against Chicago but against the other elite defenses in the NFL as well.
As for the QB bvackup i would stick with martin. we never got to see him play with first unit. The Carolina game he had the role tackling dummy playing the game with second team OL. We have some nice lineman there but it definitly needs an upgrade at spots. Either replacements in the starting line at spots (G and T) or just adding better depth. Carolina's defense ate them up. The second team defense looked better.
Look for Shawn to possible spend a late round pick on a player or do as he did last year and go through all the others team trash to see if anything is there. Martin is signed through 2007 so something has to be done. He may end up being a 40+ backup when all is said and done also.

I agree with you Hagan, about Martin. As I stated in the "Carr" thread, I think Martin would be fine with the starting OLine.

Zabransky.....now there's something to consider. I would have no heartburn seeing us pick him up as a 5th or 6th.

I agree ,Martin didnt really have much to work with in the carolina game, but he did seem to me,the he could fit the bill with the starting o-line. It something to watch for.

I could have sworn that the entire offensive line did an amazing job this season, and Stinchcomb received heavy praise not only from Sean Payton and the Saints staff, but also from the national media. Only two other offensive line units gave up less sacks (Indy and Baltimore) this season. So no, Stinchcomb wasn't "getting beaten every play."

But about the question at hand, it is a concern for us if Brees goes down, but what team isn't going to suffer if it's starting QB gets hurt? Sure, every once in a while you will find a team like the Eagles who have a good veteran who can step in and play, but the nature of the NFL is that there just aren't enough good QBs for every team to have two guys on the roster that can win football games consistently. For a backup, I think Martin is just fine. He's not spectacular, but he can get the job done. For some strange reason I keep seeing people post about how if the Carolina game is a good indication of his performance, then we're doomed. Huh? The guy went 16-24, for 208 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. He finished the game with a 90.8 QB rating against a team that still has some of the most feared defensive players in the league (a la Peppers). The guy is fine, he'sa a backup. You can't expect to have starter quality in a backup QB. I'm more worried about having only two QBs on the roster...

He finished the game with a 90.8 QB rating against a team that still has some of the most feared defensive players in the league (a la Peppers). The guy is fine, he'sa a backup. I have been wondering the same thing. He still did a good job against their first team. I don't really see the Carolina game as a loss. Th second team did great up against Carolinas First team.

keep martin for another year or two and select drew tate in the 5th or 6th round.

Martin didn't do good. Yeah he had the backup O-line but c'mon! He had some open shots out there, he held on to the ball too long too! He underthrew over half of his passes and looked like a dummy out there. No matter what O-line you have, you cant wait at the bus stop on a play! He underthrew a ball for a pick to Dev, underthrew a TD to Dev, which he caught but with a good throw theres no way Minter catches him, and he threw some costly passes that were luckily dropped.

I say bring in Anthony Wright or Shawn King and let the guys battle it out for the back-up position. I liked A-Mac before he got injured by that darn cart. Where's the guy we got from the AFL
