Is this the defining of the new trend in the nfl?? if so then can we call it the payton offence and get our boys a little more face time on ESPN

It was obvious last year that this was a trend that was going to continue. I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Jamal Lewis isn't getting any younger and only signed a one year deal. Peterson is a franchise back that would help in Charlie Frye's development should they continue with him as quarterback.

Shannahan has been platooning backs for a while now in Denver. The Eagles had Staley and Westbrook a few years ago, and you can even make an argument for Jackson/Allen and Faulk/Candidate back in the day and Tomlinson/Turner, Jones/Benson and Dillion/Maroney more recently. None of those tandems are on the same level as Reggie and Deuce though (except Jackson/Allen, that's Super Tecmo Bowl-style gold). If you can keep them together for more than 3 years, you can call it the "Miracle Offense".

Bo Jackson, and Marcus Allen, now that was a tandem. Unbelievable. That was almost like having Walter Payton, and Jim Brown, on the same offense. Imagine that one!

Reggie/Deuce is the best combo in the league right now, hands down.
