Lovin the BPA approach

With the signings of David, KK, Simmons, and Patten, we have positioned ourselves perfectly for a BPA approach in which we dont have a glaring, dire need pick in the first round. I love this approach because looking at our present team, the cornerstones of our team were all BPA picks. When we drafted Deuce McAllister, he was the BPA and had fallen through the draft to us late in the first round. When we drafted Will Smith, we had Grant and Darren Howard, but Smith was another BPA that had fallen into our laps. You could also argue that Jamaal Brown was a BPA pick. Reggie, although was the obvious pick, was certainly not a need and thus was a BPA pick. If we go BPA again, and grab some depth and some project players in the mid to late rounds, our draft will be the makings of something great.

You know Baton...... You are right. BPA always pays off in the medium to long term. Trying to use the draft to fill immediate needs creates issues like PANIC, or otherwise not thinking straight.

Just how good is the Saints set up just now. I say it feels real good

BPA also helps if you're not thinking that a rookie will contribute in year 1. Now, Reggie we were sure of, but nobody thought much of Colston or Evans after the draft. You just can't count on getting a rookie that can start.

With BPA it seems like you have a better chance of the player working out.

BPA is for the best - I'm sure Payton has many player's he's targeted that might slide down in the draft - meaning we can steal them or possibly trade down further and raid other teams rosters like we did last year.
