I like it. Good work, Saints.

Not sure how I feel. Not disappointed, but wasn't expecting WR at all.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised with the offensive pick, as I have said a few times, Payton is an offensive coach, but Meachum never entered my mind. I guess that's why I'm not coaching the team though.

John Murphy's take: This youngster came on this past season thanks to a move from "X" to flanker, where he became the Volunteers' new go-to receiver. He used a combination of size, speed and slippery moves to elevate himself to the upper echelon of receivers.

He catches the ball with his hands and has terrific balance and agility in the open field, where he'll accelerate without losing any of his top-end speed. He had a few drops when trying to adjust to the ball, but he has good leaping skills and sticks his landings along the sideline.

Meachem became a red-zone threat last season, as he knew how to get open quickly or use his long arms to break free along the back line of the end zone. The tall, rangy prospect increased his strength at the line of scrimmage; he is harder to jam and is working to get better against press coverage. He runs pretty crisp routes and isn't a long strider considering his size. He's also a willing blocker and was recognized by teammates as being well-liked and mature.

He is similar in some ways to former Volunteers great Carl Pickens, who was taken in the second round of the 1992 draft and went on to have four 1,000-yard campaigns during a nine-year career that included a pair of Pro Bowl appearances.

I'm not really surprised either. I figured it was going to be a WR or Houston. I'm not disapointed about Meechem. I guess the coaches have a lot of faith in David. Well, you have to trust Coach P's instincts, we had an unbelievable draft last year.

Besides, behind Colston.....we got Patton, Henderson and Copper. Copper is still just a #3 and Henderson is still improving.

I just hope we go after a DT in round 2.

imagine him out of the slot. take care of the jam problem. well talk about speed on the field. With with Harris on the board? what did he do? hookers and dope in NY?

i like it. the kid is big and can move. throw that in with hendy and patton. got the look of a real solid o this year. now lets go to work on the d. i did not expect that pick at all though

This is actually a good move, the saints did the damn thing with the free agent signings, keeping grant, getting an upgrade at kicker, and now filling the hole left by the "peoples champ" Joe Horn.

I think Sidney Rice, had more of a productive college career. But, who the hell was Marques Colston before last year, I've learn to not question COY, and the EOY. I trust them 100%.
