Wink It is now clear

The Saints are drafting the highest ranked player on their chart. They are not drafting need, but players. The Saints addressed their holes in FA for the most part. Right now, they need players to compete for positions. Taking the best player available will enable them to upgrade a position or get a quality back up in case of injury.

I remember a few years ago, when the Saints had one of the best D's in the league. They had a wealth of quality db's. However, a rash of injuries destroyed their secondary. They had to pick up free agents and when the playoffs happened, their starting corners were two players that had not even been on the roster at the beginning of the season. They were blow out in their playoff game against a high powered Minnesota offense, which exploit this weakness.

That experience taught me, you never have enough depth. The Saints are an elite team with some holes on defense, which they addressed through free agency. The needs everyone keeps talking about are for role players and backups not immediate starters.

They need a te to develop for next year, because the te they got in free agency is only signed for one year. Is their a better tight end in the draft to replace him NOW. Not really.

They needed a cb to provided some depth and some future, we have two good starters and though he is not a great starter, Thomas is a good nickel back. We need to groom some one to push him out and that is what we got.

Our offensive line need depth, not starters. We need a developmental qb, not a starter. We need some youth at dt, but was there one on the board at anytime, who could come in and push out our present starters. NO!

I like the Saints plan and hope they stay the course.
