Is Chase Pittman off the board yet? I would draft him as insurance if Nink isn't healthy to start the season.

If they are still on the board, I say pick up Leak or Smith. Jamie Martin is pretty old, and the jury is still out on what Fife can do. A little more depth or a project QB wouldn't be bad for a 7th rounder.

Jon Abbate, MLB, Wake Forest. He ran a slow 40 time because of a pulled hamstring. His agent told him not to run, but the guy is competitive as hell, so he did anyways. But the guy is one helluva football player. Doesn't have good measurables, but the guy can flat out play. 1st team All-ACC, Honorable Mention All-American, plays his best in big games (15 tackles in both the ACC Championship game and the Orange Bowl). I'm a huge fan of this guy, and I hope we pull our heads out of our asses and make a smart pick here.

I wouldn't be suprised if we engineered a deal to get some more picks in 5th,6th,7th - the trade up to get Pittman in round 4 shows us that the FO is willing to deal to get a player that they think might be special. It was not a bad move by the Saints - Pittman is probably undervalued and BUF or GB would have picked him up a few picks later.

I'm a little disappointed we didn't pick up a LB yet, but there might be some decent defenders that go undrafted. And don't forget that Al Wilson and Shelton Quarles got cut and are sitting out there, as far as I know.

We could always pull a stunt like the Israeli Baseball League did the other by drafting Sandy Koufax. We could use our pick to draft a blast from the past player. I'd draft Eric Martin all over again.
