Rhema McKnight signs with the Saints ?

Four other former Irish players, tight end Marcus Freeman (Baltimore Ravens), defensive end Chris Frome (Chicago Bears), wide receiver and running back Darius Walker (Chicago Bears) all signed free agent deals with separate NFL teams.

That is a nice addition.

19. Rhema McKnight - 6012, 211 4.54, Notre Dame
One of the most prolific receivers in Fightin' Irish history. Naturally athletic that has good size and a solid frame. Good body control and ball skills. Has strong and reliable hands. Good route runner that is tough and works across the middle. Great blocker who gives an excellent effort. More quick than fast. Smart and a hard worker with top intangibles.
Concentration will lapse at times. Timed speed is adequate but certainly not special. Could improve his conditioning and strength. Needs to keep his weight in check. Does not offer any value as a return man. Has some health and durability concerns
Benefited from never really being the focal point of defenses attention.
Missed most of the 2005 season and redshirted after tearing his right ACL. The type who does everything well but nothing great. Projects as a nice #2 or #3 target at the next level and a solid contributor.

nice signing. my gut tells me Devery Henderson is on the way out

Henderson

I seriously do not think Henderson is out! I think Payton likes the guy and he is capable of big plays. Payton is big on development.

I don't see anybody as out right now, but at training camp, some better have their best foot forward or they'll be scratching their unemployed asses at home.

Right.
Henderson is not on the way out, but now he knows that he is not going to get handed a job. If he was just sitting around waiting for Joe to go, then he is in deep Sh**.

We will see about his character now, and how he responds to another SEC receiver coming to town

Those footsteps Henderson/Copper can and will hear are those of Meachum and McNight!

This is a good signing. This will push the vets at training camp for sure. He wants to make sure the best 5 WRs make the roster.

I'd say Meachem and Colston are locks to make the team. Other than that it's wide open.

Quick question, why did all those Fighting Irish players fall so far down the draft ladder, and a lot of them didn't get drafted. I thought that playing for Coach Charlie prepared you for the pros? I guess nobody told the pros.
