CB - Joe Porter - 5101, 198, 4.28 Rutgers

CB - Joe Porter - 5101, 198, 4.28 Rutgers (ranking 30 to 39)

Pro day: A few of those players, who are hoping to be signed as undrafted free agents, showed their athleticism yesterday. Cornerback Joe Porter ran a blazing 4.28 40 -- the fastest time he has ever run and the result of nearly a month of salads and intense workouts at TEST Sports Clubs in Somerset. "I've been nervous the last two weeks," Porter said. "It felt like my heart was jumping out of my chest when I woke up." - Newark Star Ledger

Joe Porter (6-0, 200) rebound from a sub par '05 campaign.

"He had a real good sophomore year, but he didn't perform well last year," Schiano said. "He lost his starting spot, but recommitted himself. He's a tremendous athlete who won the 200 meters in the ['06] Big East meet. He has refocused himself, and he needs to play well for us, because he's a six-foot corner who can fly."

Now I want to see what this kid does. Got a mix reports on his hieght but 4.28 I wonder if he can be taught return duty?

That's exactly what I was thinking. 4.28 sounds like a possibility as a return man. It's obvious we aren't going to put Bush back there, which I think we should, so we can never have too many options to pick from.

yeah with that speed returns is what i was thinking too.

Im thinking let him face some competetion this year and place him on the PS. I think Young has a huge heart and feel of detication, so he's a nickel/dime back for us. I feel somewhere next year he'd have a better chance to make the roster, but with Haslett he'd be a starter probaly

Papz, while Reggie has a gift for open field running, don't you think that KR duty puts him at unneccesary risk of injury?

I understand what you're saying but by being on the field period, you're risking injury. Look at what Hester means to the Bears on special teams... we need something like that here and Bush is capable of being that gamebreaker. Look at Steve Smith in Carolina... he's a ProBowl wide receiver returning punts.
