Horn Speaks

Joe has pretty quiet in ATL so far, but seems to have broken his silence to praise the Birds' new offense:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=2869769

I guess when we were rolling up 40 points a game with him on the sidelines he was looking into the stands.

My guess is that the ATL O will be pretty much the same, regardless of the play called:

Vick gets pressured because the O-Line still sucks, then he either makes a bad throw, or takes off running. Every 5th time he takes off he gets 20 yards, and everyone raves about his athleticism. Then the stat watchers point out that ATL is leading the league in rushing again. Yawn.

Sorry for the rant, but I live in ATL and am tired of this broken record.

dude it is the same thing i have felt when hearing about the panthers and the falcons drafts. seriously the media wants these two teams to make the playoffs in front of us. joe horns old. i heard joe talking recently regarding mike and his love of hurting animals. he said somehting, i am not sure what, it just sounded exactly like what he used to say here except it was about the falcons and not the saints

I wish I could put all the media talking heads into a box until mid-season. Cause just about anything they say has no bearing or truth it it at all.

Example:

Panthers superbowl, Saints 3-13 again, Eagles are done without McNabb, Tony Romo-fest, Steeler's contenders, Brees' shoulder, Reggie will blow the doors off of everyone from the start(he did later), Falcons will run the ball all over the Saints with their exciting "college style option" run game, Saints will lose to Eagles(won both), the list goes on and on...

Dude you and I both feel the same way, there is a show on ESPN radio called All Night with Jason Smitt. This man actually went on the air before the draft stating the saints should trade the number 2 pick because New Orleans isnt big enough for Bush. He later went on to say that NFL should do something to ensure he ended up in a bigger market. Oh the joys of being a graveyard shift radio host, you can say almost anything and get away with it.

My Two Cents

Lets get this out of the way... We all love Joe Horn and what he has done for our organization. But lets look at things from a broader spectrum. We had an idiot at QB that had one season of greatness that he didnt really deserve credit for. We had a pretty good offense with Duece opening up the passing lanes and a QB that well actually got real lucky that Blake got hurt. Believe it or not Blake was solid in that season and a solid comprehensive leader. Joe Horn has been the gift recipient of being a get my tail out of a sack go to guy. He is way to big for his britches so to speak. Aaron threw lots of junk to him because we had no one else open to throw too. If you look at those games you will see just how crazy looking our play progression was. Nothing looked planned just lucky to get out of there with a positive gain. Joe Horn is bigger than the team in his own mind. Bigger than anyone on last years roster. While I respect his courage and hard work maybe a little humility would have kept him here for a SB ring. We never had a Superstar QB and now he has one(Or Not). What do think will happen in that locker room when he is not happy that Vick chose to run when he was open five times in the seam? Best to look at it as a cancer. He will never be able to exist the way he did in NO with Vick. We loved him because he gave us hope when all else seemed to fail. But when it all boils down we will be able to compare the 2007 Vicks to the 2005 Eagles. There is only room on a ship for one captain and that is the man that plots the corse.

I liked Joe Horn, but have we forgotten that Joe and the local media was the main reason we lost one of the greatest players in Saints history, and one of the greatest OLT in NFL history in Willie Roaf. If not for the Joe Horn sleeping with his wife, and Roaf wife having Horn's baby, the sure fire HOF player would have retired a Saint. Call me bitter, but I never forgave him for that. If you can't trust your team mate around your family, than when exactly can you trust him.

Not everyone who loves the Saints loved Joe Horn.

It's this very reason why I never became a Joe Horn fan. It's this very reason that I screamed when the front office paid him over LeCharles Bentley who also had a few issues with Joe Horn. But hay, he is gone....I hope for his sake he wont mess around with any of Mexico's women. That can be a very dangerous thing.

I did not know that. Talk about a jaw dropper on my side of the screen.

The one thing I always noticed about Joe, was that he thought he was not replaceable. We all have jobs, and no matter how important or great YOU THINK YOU ARE, there is always someone that can take your spot.

Joe is a thing of the past, we won with him(not a whole lot), we won without him(made it to the NFC Championship game), and this year we will beat him, without him.

On the field you had to respect him. Ok he had a QB that could not get pass the second read and always threw to him. But the defenses knew that and still could not stop him.
Off the field I agree. The roaf thing, was that ever proven? The loss to the saints from that has always left a negative feeling toward him. Just or not, it is there. we lost all of the key OL and DL in such a short peroid of time no wonder we stunk up the dome and the rest of the NFL.
Joe on the field I appauled. Off the field I just do not know.
