well it may not have been deliberate, but it was illegal, cause he got flagged for it.

I wasn't going to touch this one, but seriously.... let's stop the nit-picking about legal or illegal and wishing bad things on other players.... I think the point of this video was for people to "oooh" and "ahhh" over a very hard and borderline bad play. I would be ticked if KK was flagged for that play as a Saint, but I'm glad to see some aggressiveness (although not smart) from our newest safety.

The difference between a flabable play and a clean play can be a matter of inches. And when you're running full bore, that window is even smaller. Flagged or not, he did his job and loved the way he did it. I only wish Bullocks would get more physical. He certainly wasn't last year.
Good post, completley right. What is he supposed to do, let him catch the ball? Try to push him over from the side, possibly miss the angle, and let the guy run for a TD. There's no better way to defend it than what he did. It sucked that he got a penalty, but you can't blame him for it. That's the way it goes sometimes.

It's good to see he's not scared to get infront of someone who's running full speed.

What do you mean he stopped a huge gain... did you not see the flag??? 15 yards, personal foul. 15 yards on any play much less against the Pats is a huge give up. When you say "anyone", its to general and open a whole can of debate. I like football and love football but you can't like accept the hit if it draws a penalty or why not take a gun onto the field and shoot the QBs as soon as they recieve the hike? I mean you're taking out the QB right who cares if its illegal?

Just because a flag was thrown does not mean the play was illegal. Both players were in the air and Kevin lead with his shoulders and not his helmet. this should end that argument ONCE AND FOR ALL!

"Caldwell remained on the ground for several minutes after the hit, before getting to his feet and walking off the field. The play drew a penalty for a personal foul even though the reply showed it appeared to be a legal, but brutal hit. "

The Penalty is "uneccisary roughness a blow to the head"... this doesn't not have to be helmet to helmet, nor do you have to lead with the helmet. -illegal.

The second slow motion shot also clearly shows helmet to helmet contact.

He was not fined, Ted Bruschi said he thought it was legal, every form of media believed it to be an innocent and legal, although brutal, hit. I didn't post this to have a discussion on if it was right or wrong the post is to show the facts on this kid.....He has a motor and is not afraid to hit someone which a few of our DBs are known for trying to arm tackle rather than smack down too many times.

Well its posted and leaves it up for debate.

The hit clearly shows helmet to helmet and even the announcers point it out. Just because a players isn't fined doesn't make it legal... also who cares what TED? whatever... the footage shows helmet to helmet/or blow to the head.

Its an illegal hit. 15 yards and an automatic first down. Call stands.

A helmet to helmet hit gets further review and if it is seen as a deliberate ILLEGAL hit, that person is fined. That did NOT happen. Ted Bruschi is the great NE LB (Yes a defensive player for the team who's player was knocked.) That is why it makes a difference. Refs get many calls wrong (We know this. We are Saints fans.), but when the NFL gets their hands on the tape they don't get it wrong.
