DARWIN WALKER

Buffalo Bills | DT | #97
College: Tennessee Rookie Yr: 2000
Ht., Wt.: 6'3", 294
Contract Status: Active
NFL Exp.: 7
Born: Jun 15, 1977, in Walterboro, SC

It's been reported that if the Bills don't restructure his contract, his rights go back to Philadelphia. If Walker goes back to the Eagles they will release him sometime before Training Camp.

My question Saints Nation is: Should the Saints look into signing him if he is released?

I personally think the Saints should seriously consider signing him, he's young, very active, and produces six to seven sacks from the DT position.

I have been watching this one and have wondered the same thing. with the list next years FA so long it is a move to consider. the only thing to worry about is the size of the contract he will be looking for. Like I said the FA list is big next year and we need to be careful. If it can be done for 1.5 million or something like that then IMO it is possible. but I think he will want a deal that will make him over 3 million for the first year and over 2 for the second. If that is the case then we might have to pass because of the cap hit next year.

Had we not signed Clancy, then definately. But we a solid 3 man rotation along with Lake and Leisle, I think we're okay right now. Plus, he wants a pay raise and we should start looking to give some of our young guys extensions. So I think I'll pass if he were available soon. Anyways, I think if he doesn't turn up at Bills camp, the Bills get to return him back to Philly for their 6 round draft pick they gave up.

I honestly don't expect to see a lot of new signings from here on out (especially on the DL and Secondary). That's not based on any inside info, of course. It just doesn't make sense to me. David and Clancy were two of the bigger moves of the off season and filled two big holes. The only position I would look at would be OLB and it would have to be a good one.

Sure the team could improve at almost every position, but there are cap implications and the free agent situation for next year will be crazy.

KK played both positions last year I believe and I think both Harper/Bullocks are interchangeable as well. Bellamy isn't a horrible 4th safety to have. I think we're okay at safety.

agreed harper/bullocks will stay in the starting line-up. kk will get tons of pt, at nickel/dime and back-up safety.

darwin is good, but i will decline

I don't think he has ever played the SS position.
KK has and did last year. He played at both spots.

Oh yea missile... were you aware that in the game the Bengals played the Saints, KK was starting in place of Dexter Jackson at strong safety?

Stepping in for the injured Dexter Jackson and playing for the first time since his own knee injury sustained three weeks ago, strong safety Kevin Kaesviharn had one of the team's three picks and added two sacks. The second one came in the middle of the third quarter (matching his career total in 80 previous games) and blew up a Saints drive that was hexed from the start on New Orleans’ estimated sixth drop of the game, this one by Devery Henderson, and a holding call after a good run by Reggie Bush.
You have played in a variety of different roles throughout your career, lining up at both safety positions, as well as playing cornerback, as a nickel-back and being sent on blitzes. Obviously having the ability to do all of those things is a positive, but how did you get to be so versatile?

Kevin Kaesviharn: "I think that versatility comes through never setting limitations on yourself. Each year I set a new goal for something I want to improve on and take something that you might perceive as a weakness and find a way to turn it into strength. There are always going to be people that say or think you can't do something. But I think you have to not worry about those things and work on improving and getting better. There is always going to be periods of transition throughout a career, and it's how you react and deal with the transitions that determine how successful you are going to be."
I hope this clears things up for you. If that's not enough info, just use google. There are hundreds of articles about him.
