The Cincinnati Bengals have announced they have waived C Ben Wilkerson.

The Bengals reduced their roster by three players on Thursday, waiving center Ben Wilkerson, tight end Gregg Guenther and running back Terrence Whitehead. Only Wilkerson had previously played in a game for the Bengals.

Wilkerson was an All-America in college at LSU, helping the Tigers win the BCS national title in 2003, but a torn left patella tendon cut short his senior season and he went undrafted in 2005. Despite the injury as a senior Wilkerson was named as co-winner of the Rimington Award, given to the top collegiate center each year. The Bengals signed him as free agent and allowed him to rehab his rookie season.

Wilkerson spent the first eight games of last season on the practice squad before being signed to the 53-man roster last Nov. 7. His most significant playing time came in a 13-7 win against Baltimore on Nov. 30 when he replaced an injured Eric Ghiaciuc early in the second half.

Yes I believe OL still needs to improve depth wise. C/G is my main area of concern.
