Charles Grant Spending his Chedda'

Snippet from King's MMQB today:

3. I think the best story I've heard in a while is about a guy not forgetting where he was. In Saints camp on the last day of the offseason program, defensive end Charles Grant called over the club's vice president of communications, Greg Bensel, handed him a wad of $100 bills -- 20 to be exact -- and told him he wanted to buy lunch for all the women who work in the team offices. "Can you make it happen?'' Grant asked Bensel. He did, handing the $2,000 to GM Mickey Loomis' administrative assistant, who organized the luncheon field trip for the 20 women in the building. Way to remember where you came from, Charles.

Geez dude. The man just signed a $9 Million a year contract. Him dropping $2,000 for lunch is like me spending $10 on one of the ladies I work with (I did the math). Even if it were to impress a lady, it's his money, not to mention he could have taken just that one girl out instead of the entire office.

As for Grant's charity work:

Here's a story about his foundation, the S.A.C.K. Success Foundation:

Read this story the other day and had some questions about it (why just the women? was it the last day of the camp mentioned close to Mother's day? did he say something rude to some of the staff? etc...), but you know what? It's done.

Even a little generosity is generous. Reckon I should be more worried about how he's coming off the edge than how he spends his pocket change.

I'm sure the people behind the scenes get overlooked all the time in professional sports. It's a nice gesture. Take it for what it was intended.

Yeah the guy did a nice thing for some people who don't get any credit for the organization's success. Classy Charles, very classy.

By the way, I'm going to go ahead and use this forum to reiterate how awesome Charles Grant is. I always blabber on about how he brings the energy to our defense, and I usually say some stuff about his solid statistics. But there was one thing I came across today that I hadn't realized. The guy has started every game since he's been a Saint. You know he gets banged up and stuff, but he brings it every Sunday. This guy is a stud, and I'm glad he's in the black and gold. That is all.
