The show came on the NFL channel and the people they interviewed were ex-players, commentators, reporters, and such. San Francisco 49'ers ex-RB Roger Craig said, if the Saints had a offense when the Dome Patrol played they would have won two or three Superbowls, he also said he hated playing against the Saints because they were so violent, nothing against the Giants they were great but the Saints Linebackers were destructive and brutal. See for yourselves, it's a real nice look at our boys

note: The show repeat times.

The only reason they ranked #1 was because of Sam Mills.

You must have never seen the Dome Patrol in action? The heart and soul of that defense was Ricky Jackson, but the reason why they ranked them #1 was because of the play of all four guys, period.

Vaughan Johnson

Personally, I liked Vaughan the best, even from his USFL Jacksonville Bulls days. Tough hitter, versatile, decent pass coverage guy, can blitz well enough. I think his problem was he was the Gemini or "Jack of all trades" if you will of the group. He did all well, but no one redeeming quality, save maybe for that aforementioned hitting. Jackson was the blitz man on one side, Swilling especially known for it on the other and good pass coverage guy, and Sam Mills good lateral guy and of course he was famous for being "too small" and 'small school" guy to play in the NFL. Vaughan had really none or of that, or maybe ALL of that (decent height if I recall). And to top it off, from every interview id seen of him, all around good and cool guy. never met him though. any one know what he's up to these days? glad as a group they got their due.

I'm happy they got their due... I've argued for years that they were the best linebacking squad. Now I can point to NFL Network and say, "see, the *experts* say so too".

Not that I needed it, I'd still be saying it if they came in second.

Yes but Ricky Jackson was never a panther. Sam Mills was. That is the only reason why the dome patrol was voted #1.

Ok you guys in carolina got 1 part of the patrol. Sorry you never got listed. Keep trying one day you might get there. The NFL network will do a DL and you might get listed there. doubt it but maybe.

I just looked it up, and that Giants bunch also boasted Gary Reasons. I couldn't name any other LBs besides Lambert and Ham with the Steel Curtain, so I placed the Ravens ahead. I'll see how they fared, if I can catch a rerun of the show. Anyway, congrats to the Dome Patrol for being picked #1. I know those cats are proud.

That was an awesome bunch with Swilling coming from one side and Jackson from the other with Vaughn and Mills in the middle.

Jim Mora, on that same show. said if he was in danger and had to pick one guy he had coached to be with him, his pick would be Ricky Jackson. He was a stud.
