Tight end Eric Johnson missed the afternoon practice Friday because of a migraine. He began experiencing the severe headache and some nausea following morning practice, so he sat out in the afternoon to rest and recover.


Saints Coach Sean Payton said Johnson has suffered from migraines occasionally in the past, but it's not a frequent or serious problem. He should be back on the field Saturday.

Offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb (groin) and guard Jamar Nesbit (stomach virus) were back on the practice field Friday afternoon, as expected. There were no new injuries to report.

The catch of the day came during the afternoon session, when Drew Brees connected with Terrance Copper on a deep slant-and-go route. Copper was well covered by cornerback Mike McKenzie, who actually tipped the ball. But Copper bobbled it back to himself and reeled it in, eliciting the loudest roar of the day from the fans.

At the risk of taunting Mother Nature, I have to say the afternoon practice was downright pleasant. The temperature barely reached 90 degrees with a nice breeze and some steady cloud coverage.
Once again, Payton was pleased with the tempo and the effort from the team during the two-hour practice session.
