Breaking News: Ricky Williams Won't Be Welcomed Back In Miami

Posted Aug 5th 2007 AOL SPORTS

Ricky Williams is sitting and waiting to be reinstated into the NFL. His previous attempt was denied the past spring ... and he could reapply in September or October. If/when he does ... and he is allowed back in the league ... Miami won't want him. I know, huge shocker!

It should be noted team officials from Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller to everyone else collecting a check from owner Wayne Huizenga refuse to discuss Williams. The official line is that Williams isn't an active player, and the team isn't discussing players that aren't active.

Cameron has not once reached out to Williams since becoming coach. That is in stark contrast to Nick Saban, who called Williams the second day he was on the job in Miami, and eventually brought Williams back from retirement in 2005.

And even if Williams is granted the opportunity to return this season, there are myriad reasons the Dolphins will say, ''thanks, but no thanks,'' and move forward without him.

Not a big shock that Cameron isn't a Ricky fan. And before you send your "but all he did was smoke some doobage" comments, it isn't about that. It's about the lack of trust and faith in Williams to be there for his team.

I would be surprised to see him land with ANY team in the US.

IMO his career is over in the NFL.

If Miami releases him, he'll retire. He only came back because he was going to have to pay Miami $8M in signing bonus return. He has plenty of money as long as he doesn't have to pay that back.
