No offense to NO residents, but this is something that makes me mad. I'm from South Mississippi and can tell you that you don't have to have ties to NO to grasp the effects of the Storm. There were trees down on houses as for north as Oxford and storm surge went all the way up to The Kiln. As far as storm damage goes, Mississippi took the brunt of the damage. Several of my friends and family members lost their homes, and entire towns were basically wiped off the map. I was down there for the two weeks after the storm, tearing out carpet and sheetrock, pulling rancid food from refridgerators and waiting hours in line for gas, too. But for some reason, the national media seems to think that New Orleans was the only place affected.

Sorry for the mini-rant. I just wanted my 2-cents in there. This is not directed at New Orleanians, I know that we're in this together. Who Dat!

#1 the amount of deaths
#2 the water
#3 larger city

I feel for you guys in Mississippi, but Im in the Louisiana National Guard and have seen many strom scenes including both the destruction in Miss and in NO caused by Katrina and trust me as horrible as Miss was NO 10 times worse.
