PREGAME SHOW

PLAY FOOTBALL MONTH

Play Football Month is designed to promote the sport as well as the intrinsic values gained through participation in youth football. This initiative encourages children, parents, coaches, and administrators to celebrate the start of football season throughout the month, by participating in special football events in their communities including clinics, skills competitions, scrimmages, picnics and parades.

JUNIOR SAINTSATIONS

Pregame activities will be highlighted by the appearance of the Junior Saintsations. This ensemble of over 400 girls, ages six to 16, will showcase their performance skills by demonstrating dance and cheer techniques taught at Saintsations clinics earlier this month.

2. National Anthem

AMANDA SHAW

At only 16 years old, this New Orleans-based singer, songwriter, fiddler and actress is part of a new breed of young, roots-based musicians who have embraced both traditional and pop sounds, creating music that is both authentic and bold.

Attracted to the violin at the age of three after hearing an orchestra on television, Shaw first studied classical music, and became the youngest performer ever to solo with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, at the age of seven. Although she is not of Cajun descent, she became captivated by local Cajun and country fiddle styles, and was soon leading her own band and playing Cajun fiddle tunes She performed twice on The Rosie O’Donnell Show (1999 and 2001), opened locally for Charlie Daniels and played onstage with Cyndi Lauper. With her charismatic on-camera presence, she was recruited to star in two Disney television movies, Now You See It (2005) and Stuck in the Suburbs (2004). Shaw chose to apply herself ever more seriously to her music and with the release of her Rounder Records debut, Pretty Runs Out, Shaw is poised to take her dazzling showmanship to the national stage.

To help celebrate the PLAY FOOTBALL initiative, local youth tackle football teams will attend the game and feature as the halftime entertainment. The teams that will be participating in the pre-game and halftime exhibition are:
