Blame it on the O-Line Again

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We have a core but we need a lot more. Shame the coaches got as involved in all the hype as we did. Years not done. Division is still in reach. Sweep Is need now....

Re: Blame it on the O-Line Again

I completely agree that the O-line is a major problem with this team. Brees doesn't have the time he needs for his receivers to get open and for him to make the plays. Reggie and Deuce don't have the holes they need to run it up the middle. BUT a lot of this is also on other members of the team. Reggie has GOT to stop dropping balls that are thrown right to him and Brees needs to practice on his throwing accuracy. He was all over the place tonight which contributed to the 4 interceptions he threw.

Not to mention the defense. I think we stole the Redskins tackling techniques from last year. Although I do love it when Fujita gets a good hard hit in

We've got a week off and there's ALOT we need to work so we need it.

This is just like the Haslett years. First people love Payton, because he wins a playoff game, then things go bad the next year, and then everyone is against him.

I just don't understand how our O-line which was so good last year, can look so bad this year. I mean they were arguably the best surprise of the Saints last year.
Any thoughts, besides the fact that they suck?

Strief looked better to me. Move Brown back to right tackle and let Strief play right.

FWIW...

Last night, I OFTEN TIMES seen Jammal Brown with his hands on his hips, gasping for air in the huddle. He looked like he was tanking.

This is a swiss cheese based coaching staff. The holes near the meat make the quarterback taste better.

Brees is going to wind up with Deuce on IR before week 8.

The difference is the O-Line. They have yet to play a good game. Their run blocking is getting worse by the game and their pass blocking absolutely stinks. Brees is getting no time and therefore the WRs don't have time to get open down field. Stinchcomb has been pathetic, but that hasn't stood out because the others have been only a shade better, if any. Even Jamal Brown has regresses from his Pro Bowl season.

Say what you want about any other position on the team, but "it all starts up front" and they suck, suck, suck.

I'm writing this before the end of the game and we may win, but that doesn't change a thing for me. If the O-line doesn't get better, we might as well get used to losing.
Yeah I totally agree…

everyone’s bashing on drew for the int’s last night and lest week but lets get real he has only one receiver that is making catches consistently (that’s Colston) and an “O” line that can’t seam to make a block.
I’m willing to bet that from a QB’s standpoint that has to put you in an uneasy spot just being on the field let alone passing the ball. Then on top of that he is not being given time in the pocket like he was last season due to the lack of effective blocks.

And now I they are saying Duce has torn ACL (normally career ending) and what really concerns me is that I don’t think Reggie is up to the task of being a success at the starting RB position considering this offensive line can’t block to save there lives, and in no way am I saying he is not good, I’m simply saying that he is no Duce nor is he an up the gut runner without proper blocking.

Personally I would love to see him line up in the slot that would make 2 backs that should be able to make catches coming out of the back field cause lets face it outside of Colston no one else seams to be able to hold on to the ball

Let’s face facts Reggie does not do as well with the ball in his hands until he is in the secondary. I mean, we all saw how explosive he can be once he is there…
So, my question is why not put him in the very position that would get him there (the secondary) right from the start of the play?
Not to mention with his speed and moves I bet he would light the field on fire

Then let Pitman and Thomas work the ball from the back field under the guidance of Duce and Stecker

I bet that they would see a huge improvement
