On the Defense!!!

Ok, first of all I'm not blaming it all on the defense, infact I think the o-line is our biggest problem, but this defense needs some hitters. No one out there smacks opposing players in the mouth and makes them think twice about what theyre doing. Aside from maybe Fujita our tackling it just poor. It does no good to hit a player at the line of scrimmage when he drags you for 5 yards. Its pathetic, no one on the defensive side is intimidating and we have no fire. You guys wanted a name for the defense and so far the only thing that comes to mind is styrofoam. God I've never been more let down.

Re: On the Defense!!!

Scott was the only defender that stuck anybody. The rest of the secondary and LBers all seem to think arm tackling works. Way to many basic break downs. Elementary stuff.

Re: On the Defense!!!

The only times we got a tackle were when either Fujita did it or we had 2-3 guys on the person with the ball, and even then they'd get like another 4 yards. If we can't learn to stop them in their tracks and land a damn tackle this seasons going to be nothing but us watching the other teams plow right through to the playoffs.

Re: On the Defense!!!

That's what I have noticed on the D-side of the ball. NOBODY, I mean NOBODY bringing the pain. NOBODYs ringing the buzzer. NOBODY is knocking fire from receivers and RB's. Where are the hitters?

Re: On the Defense!!!

I think the defense has been just as good as last year. We have given up a lot of points, but our offense is completely inapt. Five turnovers and going for it on fourth and one from your own 45 are not things that will help your defense. The defense is not a great defense, but I think we are average. They need help from the offense. Score some points please.

Re: On the Defense!!!

They looked much better. But after the first two games that was not a hard thing to do.

Re: On the Defense!!!

The O is a much bigger problem than the D.

Re: On the Defense!!!

There are just too many problems to try to lay blame in any one spot.

The D is weak. How many times, last night, did you see L. White still picking up yards with 2 or 3 Saints hanging on him?
Hardly anyone looked like they knew how to apply an open-field tackle... You HIT and WRAP!
There was little to no pressure on V. Young... He had all night to throw the ball, but they did an ok job of containing him. He didn't run for as many yards as I thought he would.

O-line is just getting OWNED. Brees is a Very good QB. But, he's getting WAY too much pressure because the O-line isn't doing their job on passing plays (or on most rushing downs, but that's another story). He's rushed or hit on almost every play it seems.

Because of the pressure, his timing on passes is off, resulting in more INTs and drops.

Also, the receivers are mostly flat in their play. Even the balls that Brees puts on the mark are being dopped Way too often.

Lots of blame to go around... oh yeah, playcalling... for the most part it's too predictable.
For a little while in the 3rd, it looked like Coach was mixing it up a little and we started getting some yards.
