Let brainstorm: Staple play for offense.

Our offense has been absolutely dreadful. 3 and outs. Turnovers. Penalties. And now Deuce seems like he's going to be out for the rest of the year.

We are not going to be able to make substative changes for the duration of the season and there are 13 games left.

The OL can't seem to block anyone, Brees is inaccurate, and none of our backs can seem to get a rhythm running the ball.

I'm thinking now that we need a staple play. A play that you can depend on and practice over and over until you perfect it. Something like Indy's staple stretch play for example.

Question is given our shaky offense, what should that play be?

What play can work within the confines of the OL? Or Brees' seemingly consistent inaccurate passing? What play could the offense run consistently that works against front line pressure from teams like Carolina and Tampa?

I don't even pretend to have the answer. But I now believe that Payton, Brees, and the rest of the offense need to find a play (or a small package) that they can hang their hats upon.

Any ideas?

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Run some more screens... not swing passes, screens. It would be very effective against other teams as they're always in our backfield anyways.

Really, just watch more film. Get back to what we were doing last year. Dissect the game tapes from the last three weeks and use the bye week to improve on fundamental things. Our timing is way off on everything. Not any one play is going to make us better faster. It's not like our players aren't open... we just can't get them the ball.
