It's time for Reggie Bush to grow up

Hey, I'm a Cowboy fan. You don't want him........? We'll take him!!

This guy is probably the best collegiate player to come along in a couple decades. I know, I know, Heisman's and a great college career doesn't necessarily translate into a great pro career. But c'mon boys!! Talk about "Premature throwing under the bus"?!?!?!

And that post comparing Reggie Bush to Duece McCallister? WTF? News ALERT: Duece ain't going to the Hall of Fame. EVER. PERIOD!! No disrespect, but Duece is a serviceable journeyman. Not even a consistent or perennial Pro Bowler! Nice guy. Local boy. Right up there with Clinton Portis and Micheal Westbrook. But no iconic back he.

This post is the product of what I said over on the other thread. Free agency and salary cap and parity measures have some of you into "instant gratification"......OR ELSE! One decent year that's been called "the greatest Saints year ever" (10-6????) has some of you calling for your best bet's head after 3 games.

Wow. This is the first post that I've seen from you and welcome you to the board. I love Deuce and worry that I'll never see him play for the Saints again but you've got a great point about Bush. The kid has a lot of talent. I have faith that he will be a great running back for the Saints.

As for making all those commercials and flying around the globe, does Holder realize that a lot of the companies that use Bush in their commercials are the same companies that have shelled out hundreds of thousands of dollars to help New Orleans rebuilding effort - you know, GM, Adidas, etc - and they did so to secure Reggie as a spokesperson?

Let's have a look at the situation for a second. Your team is sucking wind. The guy who's been mentoring you for over a year just went out unexpectedly. You're now going to be The Guy.
You haven't had any time for all of this to really set in, but there's someone with a mic and camera in your face wanting to know how you feel?

The kid (that's right HE'S A KID) is probably a little scared, having suddenly become Duece's replacement rather than Duece's sidekick.

I like Reggie Bush, I'm glad we have him, and I hope we never lose him. He has excellent speed, usually catches the ball when thrown to him, and makes for an excellent decoy on the plays that we use him as that. I think he still has a lot to learn, but I think he'll learn it. However, he is not the kind of back that can take the full load. He never has been. All throughout college he had Lyndale White to do the power running, while he used his speed to run to the outside. Same as he did with Deuce last year and this year up to this point. He's just not a power-back. And he knows it, he doesn't try to run over people...he tried to juke them. Like I said before, I like Reggie, I hope we never lose him...but we do need someone to give some power also.

Although I personally don't think Reggie is ready to, Quote "BE THE MAN" nor do I think he is going to be the "end all be all" problem solver of this team I say that that article was uncalled-for and distasteful

and your right the same thing happened to Ricky Williams (not that I’m defending that pot head) but he came in and we had no “O” line to speak of and couldn’t get it done because of that fact and everyone wanted to hang the guy

Has anyone noticed a lot of players have come and that were supposed to be sooo gooood but yet we still didn't have good years?
So time passed and we traded them and once they were traded they were big players for other teams?
Then you sit back and scratch your head thinking “what the hell??? Why was he not that productive when he was here?”
It’s actually an easy answer
It’s because (for some messed up reason that is beyond my comprehension) we have always taken player simply because his stats are high and some good team has let him go.
Now on one hand he may be good on paper but that doesn’t mean that he isn't on the down side of his career, has a bad dissipation, or that he will do well with the particular style of play we are using that season.

The top teams around the league will tell you that their scouts are well versed with the teams playing and coaching styles and they don’t just go for a guy because he is "top dog" but rather because he will work well with their team because he plays in the same style of play that they run and he will truly benefit the team as a player; thus making the team stronger as a whole.

Then, on top of that we (the fans) have always expected that player to be the end all be all solution to the problem and if they didn’t fit you specific style of play in the first place then in most cases they can make matters worse.

As far as Reggie goes, things will get better if we start building an "O" that will block for him
