Win against Carolina

It all starts with Jake Delhomme being out. On Fox Sports radio today they said that John Fox said that Delhomme's elbow may require surgery. If it may require surgery then that means we face David "Gloves" Carr, and after watching him this past weekend I am confident that we can win this one.

Delhomme?
out for surgery...
that’s news to me

this is what I was able to find....
but it is dated the 24th so it's a week old and may not be current info

Quote:

ESPN - Delhomme will not need surgery on strained elbow - NFL

but the question still remains is Delhomme going to be out?

Fox Sports radio update that plays throughout the day on that channel. I heard on a road trip three times today.

"Coach John Fox says that Jake Delhomme's Elbow injury MAY require surgery"

That is a big may, but if it something that may require surgery then the chances of him playing this coming weekend are very slim.

Man o Man,

Thank God for the bye week. We get time to get things in order. Tampa loses their star RB (and they only have 1) and LT. Carolina loses Delhomme so the chemistry with Smith should be affected. Saints beat Carolina and we could be sitting very good in our division. The Bucs are going to lose momentum and Garcia is going to get hurried. A. Smith is out for now with SF so the Seahawks are the only healthy and strong team we face in the next 4.

Wins against Carolina, Atlanta, and SF with a loss to Seattle puts us at 3-4 with a 2-1 division record. Beating Seattle would put us at 4-3 with 2-1 in the division. The Saints are still very much in this!

Re: Win against Carolina

well from what I have found out he will not be the starter with or with out surgery
so either way it's good news for us
or should be anyway

Re: Win against Carolina

Fox said last week that surgery has to be done, either now, later in the season or at the end of the year...

The D-line should take avantage of Carr since Delhomme may be out.

I understand why you are reluctance considering the start of this season but I don't know, I think this could be the turning point for this team
With Delhomme being out and Carr starting this could spell good things for us

After watching him last season with Houston Carr has consistently shown that he is easily rattled under pressure and will try to force the ball into places that it should not be. So provided our defensive secondary can put themselves into position for the pick we may see some turnovers but that does mean that our defensive line especially Smith and Grant must steep it up a notch with getting pressure on him from both the inside and the outsides

But considering this I’m sure that the Carolina coaching staff is well aware of Carr’s shortcomings so I look for them to run the ball more then the saints are expecting

I am going to look at this game a bit more realistic. I think you'll see Carolina's D-line step in this week and win. We don't play at all well after a bye week. I don't think Carr is going to win them the game but our D may very well make him look good.

I'm tellin ya, this team can win! They just need to get off their dead asses and play football. These guys aren't as bad as they're playing. A REAL leader needs to step up on offense and defense and get these guys moving. This bunch is still living off last year and believing all the hype put out in the media. I hope to God taht after the butt whipping they got maybe, just maybe they'll wake up and play.

Carolina Panthers at Saints, Sunday, noon

NOT AGAIN

Just three weeks after having to face Saints killer Joey Galloway of Tampa Bay, the embattled New Orleans secondary has the unenviable task of stopping an angry Steve Smith, every bit as big a nemesis as Galloway.

Smith's statistics the past five times the Carolina Panthers have played the Saints are as impressive as Galloway's outrageous numbers the past several years. In Smith's past five games against the Saints, he has caught 40 passes for 495 yards and five touchdowns. He also has rushed for a sixth touchdown.

Smith refused to speak to the news media after the Panthers' 20-7 loss Sunday to the NFC South-leading Buccaneers, but game reports had him screaming through communication devices as he spoke with Carolina coaches in the press box during the third quarter.

He caught five passes for 32 yards, but in the first 53 minutes, Smith was held to two catches for five yards.

The problem was backup quarterback David Carr, who couldn't seem to get the ball to Smith or anybody else.

Carr, playing for the injured Jake Delhomme, out with an elbow injury that reportedly could require surgery, was 19-of-41 for 155 yards. He was sacked three times and hurried often.

"We didn't do anything to stop (Smith)," said Tampa Bay cornerback Ronde Barber, who covered Smith all day Sunday. "He just wasn't getting his opportunities. They weren't giving him opportunities. I don't know the reasons for that. We had some things to deal with Steve Smith today, and to our benefit we didn't have to use them."

Two words that scare the hell out of me: Steve Smith.

At this point, I could hang up TDs on the Saints D with one good WR.

Re: Win against Carolina

yeah I know
but the point here is that Carr will be delivering the ball
so we should have a chance no matter who the receiver is

well maybe I should say I hope it doesn't matter

I don't think it matter who is at QB if there line gives him enough time to make a throw we are toast. Carr is going to be the next coming of Peyton Manning.

Re: Win against Carolina

on D this week i think its gonna be all about the coaching. we dont have outstanding tallent so focus should be on confusing carr with different coverage schemes vs smith. mabye we get some turnovers as they will try to force it to smith this week

Re: Win against Carolina

What's wrong with double-teaming him?

Oh, and a message to the NO secondary: DO NOT TALK ANY SMACK TO STEVE SMITH!!!

If we can't beat a banged up Carolina team that's starting Carr at QB, and this after having a bye week to prepare? We just need to tank this season!

Re: Win against Carolina

If the O line doesn't block and the D line doesn't get any pressure, then it doesn't matter who plays QB cause we are gonna lose. If we are gonna make a run it has to start this week. If we lose the season is over. Sorry for the realism guys!!!

====

If our O line that started the season cannot get the job done put someone that is hungry in there.

Jake being out will help, Carr has no continuity with Steve Smith which will help us. Steve Smith vs. our corners could be bad with Jake in the game. However their line is blocking very well, nor is there D line doing much.

This equals a win, if we lose we might as well pack it in and let the backups play the rest of the year

Re: Win against Carolina

I think we're going to pull this one out. I have a gut feeling Reggie is going to have a monster game against them. Hold Foster to less than 90 yards rushing and I think we'll have a win here.
