I'm pretty sure the Saints failing to score a touchdown on that 10-minute drive.......along with Devery Henderson tipping a ball right to a DB.......along with Jamaal Brown's penalty on the Stecker touchdown (which led to having to settle for 3 points).......along with Payton's dumbass decision to try a 53 yard FG with 2 AND A HALF MINUTES LEFT by an injured kicker.....had just as much to do with the loss as Mare.

If he does get cut, it'll be because his overall performance thru the first 4 games hasn't been stellar, not because he whiffed on a FG that he never should have been lined up for anyway.
Thank you BlackHoleSlam for that much needed dose of reality.

Re: Cut Mare

Like I've said in numerous threads. I was angry at this decision before the season even started. I am even angrier now. He NEEDS TO GO!

Valid points. However, too many times this season our offense has at least put us in position to get three points and we walk away empy-handed. That can kill the mentality of a team. He needs to go!!!

Oh I agree, that's why I included the part to say "IF he got cut, it'd be because his overall performance hasn't been stellar". And it hasn't. Hell, I didn't think Vanderjagt was kicking all that bad in Dallas last year when he got cut, but apparently Parcells didnt feel he was as reliable as he should be.....so in came Gramatica. But for LordofEntropy to put the loss solely on Mare.....well that's just stupid.

Re: Cut Mare

I never like the trade but cutting him is not the answer. Besides he still is our best special teams weapon on kick offs.

That's pretty depressing.

Re: Cut Mare

Someone here mentioned that Connor Hughes had a great pre-season with us last year but could not beat Carney. Not so much that he could not beat him....they both did very well but...Carney had like 14 years on the kid. Well....I think its time to call him back.

Oh, c'mon. My statement was not stupid. Mr. Mare missed a TWENTY YARD FIELD goal in that game. He kicked it so low an ELBOW managed to block it. A twenty yarder, Hole. Twenty yarder. How much did we lose by?

We both know the answer - 3 points.

So yes, you can say that Olindo Mare single handedly (footedly) lost us that game.
