Very Sad News... JoeSam passes away
 

Hi guys. This is Joe*s nephew posting from his computer. Since he had so much stuff saved from this forum, I figured yall should know.

Joe passed away peacefully on December 15th. Memorial services will be after the first of the year. From what I heard, he will be cremated and have his ashes spread in the gulf.

Sorry to be the one to give the bad news.

Steve, I'm very sorry with the news, I knew he was sick but didn't think it would come to this, he was just on here a few days ago, I really liked Joe even though I never met him, the members here loved him also, he loved this site and the Saints.
He and I would send PM's to each other and he helped me as a Mod here on the site from the get go.

Very Sad News... JoeSam passes away
 

I know this may not belong on here but I really think the MODs will agree that it does.

I received an email from Joe Irvin 's(JOESAM) nephew yesterday that Joe passed away this past Friday. He wanted me to let everyone know that Joe passed away in his sleep and was at peace.

I never met Joe, as I feel sure many of you didn't, but heartache is still there. It is very hard to understand how you can miss someone you've never met, but I will miss him very much. I know Joe has gone home to the Lord our Father, and that is what sould give us all peace.

I love you Joe and will miss you Bro.

It's a shock. I don't think Halo knows. I'm Halo's nephew, but how do I tell him. Halo knew Joe and Joe came to visit and stuff.

I am so sorry to hear this. My condolence to Joe's family and friends. I always had tremendous respect for Joe and considered him one of the best things about this site. I haven't been around this site in quite sometime but I always remember him fondly from my days when I was a regular. I'm sure he truly is a Saint now.

I've been trying to confirm this since yesterday by calling Joe and his phone seems to have a generic voicemail. Joe didn't have a lot of family, but he had a lot of friends.

I knew him personally, he came to New Orleans and we went to dinner at the Embers and recently he was calling me a lot. I think he knew he was very ill.

I want everyone to know that JoeSam was more concerned about this forum and the site running well than his own health. It was like he talked about that for the last few weeks and even sent me several emails and left messages for other mods that he was going on vacation.

Well he went on a good trip, and in his sleep.

When I hear more I'll post it.

Thanks Greg. Joe was a Saint fan to the core and I'm sure he appreciates your thoughts and those of everyone else. I do too.

He loved the Saints more than anything- and as we all know that's hard to do.

He was a great friend and he will be missed.

I'll miss his play by play postings and insights during training camp...

I am shocked to say the least . . . I have always had the utmost respect for JoeSam's love of the Saints. He was the consummate fan and certainly was one of the Saints' greatest. I for one call for his to be the inaugural induction into the Saints' Fan Hall of Fame. His insight into the team we all love is unmatched. My one regret for JoeSam is that he never saw them go to the BIG ONE. Maybe he can have more influence on the team. My regrets to his family and will remember each of you that are grieving your loss in my prayers. Long live the influence of JoeSam on all that enters the Black and Gold.

Joe's nephew posted something in the administration forums and I tried to move it here... somehow it got lost. It said he was going to be cremated this weekend and his ashes were going to be spread into the Gulf.

I find it amazing how much this news has impacted me. I never met Joesam, but find myself deeply moved with sympathy and feelings of tremendous loss. Over the years of reading his opinions, his passion for our beloved and sometimes hapless Saints, his analysis and experience, and his tireless efforts to maintain peace and civility on this board; I feel I've come to call this man I never met "friend" - at least for my part. Rest in peace, friend.

"How can you only thank this bunch of guys for all they have done? I had the honor of being at training camp with them for 3 weeks. I saw first hand the work they put in. These men deserve to give themselves the very best and that is to WIN the Super Bowl. As for what they have done for me, I have been a fan since the team was announced. Hadn't been a regular of late but had many conversations via threads with JoeSam. This was my 1st Saints site and as everyone knows Joe was a class act...

Everytime something like this happens it makes me want to live life a little fuller and enjoy every minute I have with the ones I love. I don't want to have someone leave me without fully appreciating them while they are HERE with me.

id like to thank everyone who posted kind words about joe too.. ive been a mod here for along time and it was joe who taught me the ropes and he loved the saints and this site.. even thought i never had the pleasure of meeting joe in person, if i needed some help with something he was always returning my IMs and emails... he was a great man and ever better friend... we'll never forget you joe.. your were black and gold thru and thru...

Man this is terrible to hear. I, like many other posters here, never met Joe, but his presence on this board was always a comforting one to me. He always seemed to keep us balanced when we were jumping off the deep end. I will surely miss Joe around here, but I think he would want all of us to stick around and keep loving our Saints. My thoughts and prayers are with Joe's family.
