Contract for Sean Payton
 

Does anyone know the contract status for Sean Payton? From what I have seen, his contract only goes into the 2008 season, the 3rd and final year of his 3 year contract he signed.

I believe you are right. There was chatter earlier about an extension but that faded away. We had more important things to worry about.

If I was a betting man, I would bet Benson waits until after this year or at least halfway through the 08 season before he decides on a contract extension for Payton. Benson had to buy out the last 2 contracts, I don't think he will do a third. Just my thoughts.

Well it was pretty much a 3 year rebuilding plan... if Benson likes what he sees after this upcoming season, expect Payton to be here for a long time.
