Re: Lets talk LB in the NFL draft

I'm going to throw a late round guy out there: Wesley Woodyard from UK. He's a 'tweener that will probably be a SS conversion because he's small, but the kid can flat-out play football. He's projected in the 4th.

Here! Here!

... especially after watching Laurinaitis last night, getting caught out of position and missing tackles.

... although, if the Saints draft him and he stinks, then announcers would proclaim "The Saints D caught a bad case of Laurinaitis"...
...which would be hillarious...
...if you are not a Saints fan, of course...

I don't know if you guys are aware, but Laurinaitis set the record with the most tackles of any BCS championship game. I thought he played pretty well, against a very respectable offense.

He would be a good pick up. I don't think he will get drafted, he will more than likely be a FA pickup.

Now back to LB's. I think Ali will be there when it's our turn. But...I hope we pick up a lines man.

By the way, Welcome aboard GLOCK!

... that's just a stat. So he made more tackles than anyone else. Where were these tackles made? How many were run stuffers? Sacks? The Saints already have a couple LBs who can tackle after 12 yd gains. They don't need another.
And he can't pass cover worth crap. Maybe against the cream puffs OSU plays year in and year out he looked great, but against LSU, he looked lost in pass coverage, average at best in run support, and with no sideline to sideline range. Maybe is because LSU has speed, but if he can't handle that speed in college, how can you expect him to handle speed in the NFL?

'Cause the simple man pays the thrills, the bills and the pills that kill

Re: Lets talk LB in the NFL draft

I was not overly impressed by him either. But all in all he played solid. He and the Buckeyes never really had that many chances to be overly aggressive in that game. He was playing deep almost all night. Kinda like a safety valve. If he got caught up in the line back wash the game would have been a complete blow out. He is still top 15 talent and he is just a Jr.

Well, I thought he played pretty well, though I'll admit I was drunk by halftime. I'll watch the game again tonight, and focus more on his play before I comment again.
