Reggie may never recover his reputation
 

Did anyone else see this.

He is the lead story on yahoo sports today, with the book out, and if they take his heisman he may never recover.

Pretty bad stuff for Reggie. There is one sure thing that would help him recover his reputation, and that be a major part of what gets the Saints a Super Bowl win! If he did do the things he is being accused of, then coming clean and admitting it will definitely start the healing process.

Yahoo sports has been milking that cow for 2 years now. Same story a 2-bit "reporter" keeps harping on, with the same "sports agent" (who apparently has never actually had a client, as commented on Fox radio) claiming he gave money to Bush.

Maybe he took money, maybe he didn't. Who knows, and who really cares. The truth of the matter is, look in the parking lot of any major football program... tell me they all can afford those rides. Go around restaurants. See how many tabs football players pay. Tell me they can afford the clothes and the rolexes and the gold and the diamonds they wear.

The NCAA can strip Reggie of the Heisman and erase his stats, whatever. He's now a professional football player making millions of dollars. Same thing if Loyola decided to strip my degree for something I did back then. At this point, because of my experience, it wouldn't matter a bit.

I know that Yahoo has been talking this up for a while but I tend to think that everyone knew what was going on and yes that means even Reggie. If his parents were doing something behind his back then they need to tell the true and then REGGIE needs to tell the truth. I don't care if he is guilty, FESS UP AND DO IT NOW!

Did anyone stop to think for one second why Carroll all of a sudden wants to talk to NFL teams? He's had plenty of chances to leave before now. They are going to punish not just Reggie but the coach and the team.

It's only a matter of time.

... it's not that Pete Carroll wants to talk to NFL teams. more like every year someone says "Pete Carroll" + "NFL" in the media.

If this "sports agent" was giving money to Reggie's parents, it just shows you how stupid he is. Reggie cannot be responsible for whatever their parents do. He would have to prove that there was an agreement between him and Reggie to funnel money to his parents.

In any case, I'm no USC fan, or alumni; don't really care much about them. The only possible outcome that could mean anything to me would be the NCAA stripping USC of the 2003 "co-champion" label, which would be a good thing.

I'm with ya T, I just think if Reggie knows he needs to say it and not try to cover it up. It will hurt him more in the end.

People need to let it rest, it was years ago and it is what it is. I actually emailed the guy from yahoo that keeps on writing the same stories. I got no reply though.

If even half of this is true, I don't blame Reggie as much as I blame his parents and those around him in leadership positions that KNEW this had to be going on.
I remember in college my hardest lesson was personal finances. Even though I had a scholarship that paid room and board, I rarely had more than $20 a week of personal money for chicks, draft beer, and gas. If Satan had been passing out $100 bills, I would have at least looked into it. But I can tell you straight up that even though my parents were a struggling lower-middle class family, they would have never compromised their integrity or allowed me to do so.

What about these vultures that prey on successful atheletes? Are they not equally to blame for enticing college atheletes when they KNOW it's a violation of NCAA rules? I'm not excusing Reggie or his family as "victims", I'm just saying there is blame to spread around.

Reggie needs to figure out what's the right thing to do in this matter and do it and move on.
