Saints met with lonely south team player

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; long-snapper Garrison Sanborn,Florida State. With so many talented players at high-profile positions drawing interest during practices and through the week,long-snappers often go over looked,so the fact that New Orleans invested some of their time with Sanborn is significant....

Re: Saints met with lonely south team player

To put you a little more at ease, here is a list of prospects the Saints were seen talking to.

NFL Draft Countdown Senior Bowl '08 - 1/23/08 Player / Team Observations
NFL Draft Countdown Senior Bowl '08 - 1/22/08 Player / Team Observations

Looks like we looked at several corners, a few WRs that seem to also be KR specialists, and some TEs. Also, outside of Connor, several of the DEs and LBs we talked to seem to be tweener types - maybe 3rd down pass rush specialists?

The only real knock that I have read on Cromartie besides the old "hasn't played a strong level of competition" is that he is a little thin for his height and thus doesnt really offer alot in run support. Also, I have read that he is an exceptional return specialist.

He answered all those question with a great week of practice and a strong performance in the Senior Bowl. He was solid in run support and great in pass coverage.

Special teams is one third of the game and a very important one too. I don't know anything about Houser's status but it is always wise to look at younger players.
