what's new.

After the tapes were burned and the Pats fined basically nothing (what's $750,00 in the NFL, plus Goddell knew the Pats had 2 picks in the 1st) a lot of folks just swept the whole thing under the rug, saying they got punished, now look at what they done without the taping, blah blah...

But if you think about it, this is an organization that was told not once, but twice, not to do what they were doing, and they kept on doing it anyway. Don't you think they could be doing other things?

They were caught not once, but not even twice. They were caught THREE times. They did the same thing to the Packers at Lambeau last year. The Packers filed a complaint - yet nothing happened.

So, that's multiple seasons, multiple complaints, multiple warnings - that we KNOW OF.

I say they forfeit each and every one of those games. I'ts simple. You cheat - you lose. And worse - if you continue to cheat - then you don't get to play at all. Revoke their NFL charter? You're damn right.

The reason why no one in the nfl is saying anything about this is two reasons:

One: If you look at the Pats your going to have a take a close look at all the other teams in the NFL. Here in Dallas ESPN has its own network, and a few of the local host get big names to come by from time to time. Here are a few tidbits I remember from some guest.

Jimmy Johnson: The Pats arent the only team to do this in the NFL, the Jets have also been brought up when it comes to taping coaches. Hell the 1st person Eric Mangini hired after he got his head coaching jobs was a memeber of the Pats film staff.

Norv Turner: When we coached in Dallas Jimmy always made sure the trash from the visiting teams coaching box was searched. Often they *other football coaches* would toss the gameplan away as they left for home. It wasnt much of an edge, but when you playing a team twice in a year it sure helped.

Pat Summerall *SP?*: Over the years alot of teams have done a few under handed things to gain an edge. When I covered the NFC North I always heard certain teams complain about mic's beeing hidin in the visitor locker room, or players getting poor medical care at away games....this is one of the reason why teams started to employ their own doctors.

Micheal Irving: Im not going to come out and say that I played with cheaters or that Ive been cheated in a game. But lets just say that it wouldnt shock me to learn the truth both ways!

Two: The NFL gave the pats the most strict punishment it could....500k and the loss of a 1st rounder. When the rules were made it wasnt a given that a team would have two 1st rounders.

This is football people.....the top bread winner in the sporting world, it consumes men, children, and makes women cry for a decent part of the year.....so I promise you....the video tap is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the things these teams do and get away with.

Some of you insiders out there now more than your own fair share of stories that have been put to bed quitely during the Saints history in New Orleans.

There's a difference between bending and flagrantly unacceptable. I'm not trying to be naive. There's no doubt every team does whatever it can to get an edge. But you've got to draw a line somewhere. And I think the Pats went past it, consistently.

We can't just say, oh well, we know everyone's cheating anyway, so it's ok for you to hire your own officiating crew for this game. What would be the point of even watching these games anymore? There's got to be a line drawn somewhere.

you see,
this puts them filming at their first s.b.
and i would not doubt that they had film
throughout the yrs on teams they played
over and over and over....
an edge? well if i know what the other
team is gonna do on a given play hell yes
i'd say its an edge......
sure you gotta stop em, but at least you
know what you're stopping.....
this is organized cheating and whatever
respect i had for the patriots starting with
the coach is gone..
has'nt anyone had enough with american sports
and cheating?
it's become an acceptable way of life only because
we accept it.
again, maybe someday someone will have the balls.
