Crumpler?

Definitely a step up from the poop we have.

Falcons Release Crumpler

I am new to the group. I am a Saints from from way back here in Pa. I saw this and thought he would make a great addition to the Saints. I know he has burned us so many times that I lost count. I hope the link works.

It appears due to his weight gain(s)...he has become injury prone! Drop 20/30lbs and maybe!

2007 Season Stats Rec Yds TD Avg Long YAC

Alge Crumpler's chronically sore knee could sideline the four-time Pro Bowl tight end for the Atlanta Falcons' game at New Orleans on Sunday.

The rationale for his downturn in stats could be due to the QB position and the weight he gained. The last game I saw him play...he reminded me of the "refrigerator".

hmmm an aging tight end?????? does that fill a need for us?

Re: Crumpler released

I'd absolutely take him, that guy would add a dimension to our offense that we haven't seen in a VERY long time. Would be a great addition to this offense, and I think would let Brees have that comfort zone he had when he was with Gates.

Re: Crumpler released

How about Rod Coleman? Didn't that guy have a Pro Bowl season a few years ago?

Re: Crumpler released

If not too expensive I say get him right away. A healthy Crumpler is a good offensive weapon. Besides didn't Johnson have a one year contract and is a free agent?

Re: Crumpler released

Crumpler is only 31 and has 7 yrs exp. He could still be a very effective TE especially with a PB QB like Brees throwing to him over the middle. This guy has killed the Saints over the last several seasons with the Falcons. I would think a veteran minimum contract for 1 yr would be worth the shot.

Re: Crumpler?

I say no. He didn't impress me last season or the previous one. No need to pick up someone on the downslide.

Re: Crumpler?

I'd sign him.

Re: Crumpler released

Offering a one year contract would be a brilliant move
When healthy he is a top 3 TE

Re: Crumpler?

If he can't get teh job done in camp, cut him...
Cost you nothing.

Re: Crumpler released

I just noticed that they cut DT Rod Coleman(Can play when healthy), OT Wayne Gandy(Another decent veteran we all know), QB Byron Leftwich(This guy has a gun) also.

Re: Crumpler released

I would definitely sign him. Pass on Coleman, and I never liked Gandy, here or there.

Re: Crumpler released

I am not a big fan of any of them...especially when considering the cost that is going to come with them. Crumpler and Coleman are the only ones i think the saints even care about and neither of them are going to come cheap. I say pass. But if was forced to go after one of them, i would go after Coleman.

Re: Crumpler released

both have alot to prove. they are living on their past and have done nothing really in the past two years. Pass

Re: Crumpler released

I think the important thing to realize about the releasing of coleman is its impact on our draft. The falcons are going to look a lot harder at Dorsey and Ellis and make the chances of one of them falling to us a little bit slimmer. I dont want to see either of those two on an opponent in our division.

That being said, his quarterback was Michael Vick and then like 5 other guys last season. I think with a good quarterback, he would really be special.

He dropped alot of passes in the games I saw him. Granted I didn't see every game but he still didn't impress. Plus with his weight gain and injury and age...I see no upside. If we can get him on the cheap then why not but no way top dollar.

Yeah I heard that too.

He is from Carolina and went to scholl in the state as well.

Re: Crumpler released

I am a little torn on Crumpler. I know what he has done in the past, and yes, he absolutely killed the Saints. The little that I saw of him in 07 was not impressive at all. It was almost like he forgot how to play. Maybe it was injuries, who knows. The biggest issue I had was he dropped passes that in past years would have turned into big plays. I am not sure if the Saints would really be interested, unless they take a big hit at the TE spot, which could easily happen with Miller and Johnson becoming free agents.
