Falcons Release Crumpler

I am new to the group. I am a Saints from from way back here in Pa. I saw this and thought he would make a great addition to the Saints. I know he has burned us so many times that I lost count. I hope the link works.

It appears due to his weight gain(s)...he has become injury prone! Drop 20/30lbs and maybe!

Alge Crumpler's chronically sore knee could sideline the four-time Pro Bowl tight end for the Atlanta Falcons' game at New Orleans on Sunday.

The rationale for his downturn in stats could be due to the QB position and the weight he gained. The last game I saw him play...he reminded me of the "refrigerator".

Re: Crumpler released

I'd absolutely take him, that guy would add a dimension to our offense that we haven't seen in a VERY long time. Would be a great addition to this offense, and I think would let Brees have that comfort zone he had when he was with Gates.

How about Rod Coleman? Didn't that guy have a Pro Bowl season a few years ago?

Re: Crumpler released

If not too expensive I say get him right away. A healthy Crumpler is a good offensive weapon. Besides didn't Johnson have a one year contract and is a free agent?

Re: Crumpler released

Crumpler is only 31 and has 7 yrs exp. He could still be a very effective TE especially with a PB QB like Brees throwing to him over the middle. This guy has killed the Saints over the last several seasons with the Falcons. I would think a veteran minimum contract for 1 yr would be worth the shot.
