Re: typical payton pick

IMHO there is a good bit of merit in this pick . As distasteful as it is to say this Duece is done. We need a powerful inside runner with the ability to go all the way ie, Mendenhall

Re: typical payton pick

WAAAAAAAAAAY too much defensive talent for Payton to go offense, let alone a RB in the first round. With Vilma in the fold, I think we pass on Rivers and go best CB available

and by the way, what is a "typical" Payton pick? a steal in the 7th? Reggie at number 2 overall? Meacham? an unheard of CB from Kent St.? Pittman?
nothing typical or predictable about this FO

Re: typical payton pick

I wouldn't be surprised by this pick. Here's another thought, I wouldn't be shocked to see McFadden fall to #10. So if McFadden falls and Mendenhall is there too, I figure Payton takes the RB.

I hate to say it, but I don't think Deuce can carry the biggest part of the load and Reggie can't/won't run between the tackles.

With Vilma, I don't see us taking a LB at 10.
I don't think Ellis or Dorsey fall that far.
I wish we could get a DT in free agency.
I suspect we'll try to sign Gay tomorrow.
As much as I like Mike Jenkins in the draft, I could see us take McFadden or Mendenhall. Of those two, I prefer Mendenhall. But then I prefer Jenkins over Mendenhall too.

Getting Mendenhall at 10 wouldn't surprise me at all...even though he played behind PT, I think he's the inside back we could use. Take best available DB in the 2nd.

Re: typical payton pick

that would be a pretty dumb pick, with all the talent on D out there and also O-line.
