New Orleans New Orleans Saints Agree to Terms with WR David Patten

The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with unrestricted free agent WR David Patten. The announcement was made by Saints’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

Patten spent the 2006 season with the Saints after signing as an unrestricted free agent. The 5-10, 190-pound veteran of 11 NFL seasons caught 54 passes for 792 yards for a 14.7 receiving average last season, along with three touchdowns. Patten’s 54 receptions were the third-most on the team while his 792 receiving yards were the second highest on the squad, and he registered three-100 yard receiving games. His top game in 2007 came on a Monday Night Football affair on December 10 at Atlanta when he recorded nine receptions for 122 yards and a score.

Just lit my celebration cigar (5 Vegas Classic). I think Trent Green would make a great backup too. The guy has to be better than Jamie Martin. Hopefully we will need him just a much.

Haven't posted in a while. Great to be back. Looks like the upgraded the site. Nice.

Notwithstanding the $$$$$ involved...a good move by the Saints. He provides leadership and experience as well as a good target for Brees.

Solid move, Colston, Meachem (Hopefully), Copper, Patten, Stonehands. I would guess they'll bring in a young guy in the lower rounds or an undrafted FA for camp. Hopefully somebody will be able to beat Stonehands out in camp.

He played well for the Saints last year. Good job bringing him back in.

Re: Saints Resign WR Patton

I think we can all agree that General Patten has helped make number 87 a distant memory.

And isn't it nice to see this from players....

"Patten joins several other key members of the Saints that could have explored the free agent market, but instead opted to remain with the club." neworleanssaints.com

Think there's a chance this team can go far over the next few years???

Re: Saints Resign WR Patton

I like it a lot. Patten had some impressive games last year. I'm much happier about Patten and Copper re-signing then I am about Henderson's re-signing.

1976, I keep expecting Quinn in your avatar to slam down the beer can and say, "Now I'm done".
