Eagles cut Spikes - Yahoo! News

I thought we should have gone after this guy more aggressively last year and now he's available. He was a beast in Philly and still has some gas left in the tank. I would slap my momma if we could get him in black & gold this season!

So, my question is this: since Briggs is off the board, do we have cap room to bring Spikes in for a 1-3 year run?

Eagles released LB Takeo Spikes.

This is a sudden change from their previous public stance that Spikes would return. The former Bengal and Bill is recovering from torn rotator cuff surgery and has been an average player since tearing his Achilles a few years back. Omar Gaither could move to the outside now.

I for one have always been a huge Takeo Spikes fan, I think he's a monster when he's healthy. However, that's the problem with him, he's never healthy, and it's affected his performance. He hasn't over 100 tackles since 2003. That being said, if we could get him in here for the right price, I'd be more than happy to have him. In all reality though, that's not going to happen.

Spikes finished second on the team (Eagles) last year with 139 tackles in his only season with the Eagles. Check your stats. We need a LB that can rack up those kind of numbers so our CB's aren't.

I'll pass, don't like his age for one, secondly don't think he can mount a pass rush??? Thirdly, I think he's speed is dropping off.
