wide reciever, here we come.........
from pro football weekly..........

A New Orleans source observed that the Saints left no glaring holes on their roster by locking up many of their own free agents on offense while adding CB Randall Gay, MLB Jonathan Vilma and DE Bobby McCray to the defense. While cornerback and defensive tackle remain high priorities for the team, we hear it will employ a “take the best player available” approach with the 10th overall pick and could be primed to surprise some with its selection.

Besides the Reggie Bush pick a couple of years ago, I have never been able to nail the Saints pick before the draft. They usually do something totally unexpected. I look for the same this year. Who knows?

and this guy has found that reciever.........

03/16...Al's Draft Scoop...Don't be surprised if Michigan State WR Devin Thomas is the first receiver to come off the board in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft. Thomas has made the most of his chances to impress the NFL teams this offseason, while some of the other top prospects at the position have either failed to impress, or have injury concerns clouding their draft status. Thomas is a juco transfer that has been productive for just one season at MSU, but he's a player on the rise and has his best ball ahead of him. Thomas also has added value as a return man, having averaged 29.1 yds per kick return this past season. Texas WR Limas Sweed ran a 4.46 at the combine, but didn't workout due to a lingering wrist injury. Sweed will need to impress the scouts in the on-field drills at his pro day workout this Wednesday. WR Malcolm Kelly has yet to run or workout for the NFL teams this offseason because of a quad injury, but also has injury concerns regarding a knee injury that he suffered in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl game against Boise State. Kelly was timed in the forty at 4.54 in a previous campus workout, and is scheduled to workout at 10:00 am on April 9th for the NFL teams. Indiana WR James Hardy was impressive at both the combine and at his pro day workout, but has character concerns because of a three day jail stay for alleged battery on his girlfriend in 2006. Hardy was also suspended for two games that season for conduct detrimental to the team. California WR Desean Jackson has been impressive in both the on-field drills and in the individual testing, and ran a blistering 4.35 at the combine. The knock against Jackson at this time is his attitude and his lack of size, being measured at just 5-9.6 169 at the combine.

seriously, would you be surprised? smitty

Smoke screen. Do we really need another receiver that won't get on the field again? If Payton takes offense, it's because he doesn't believe that Deuce will come back 100% so we draft Mendenhall. Waiting may be the difference between 7-9 and 10-6.

more proof emerges..............
read the last paragraph.............
has saints written all over him........

4. Devin Thomas, Michigan State

Height/Weight: 6'2/217
College Experience: Fourth-year junior
Combine Results: 4.40 forty, 28" vertical, 10.06' broad jump
Comparison: Anquan Boldin
Draft Projection: Early to late second round
2007 Statistics: 79-1260-15.9-8 Tds, 27-177-6.6-0 Tds

Positives: While his timed speed is superior, Thomas is devastating after the catch like Anquan Boldin. He has an excellent build and strong, soft hands. Thomas is a gifted special teamer, having blocked punts at MSU and averaged 29.1 yards per kick return as a junior. He was the Spartans' only legitimate passing game weapon in 2007 and often carried the offense. Thomas is an instinctive wideout and plays with swagger.

Negatives: He had only one big season in the Big Ten and is raw as route runner, particularly in the downfield department. There is limited game film on Thomas and several of his big plays came after underneath throws. He'll need to refine the "little things" in his game to help a pro team as a rookie.

Verdict: While he may have been a first-round lock for the 2009 draft had he stayed in East Lansing another year, it's hard to knock Thomas for leaving early after a marvelous junior campaign. His postseason workouts have been phenomenal. Thomas is raw with kinks to work out, but won't have to be the focal point of his next offense. If an NFL team can take full advantage of Thomas' after-the-catch ability, he could emerge as the best receiver in the class when we re-evaluate in 2011.

No, I would not be surprised.
He and and Meachem can play Madden 09 in the team box on Sundays with a DNP next to both of their names.

Re: sounds like the saints...........

I for one will not be surprised with a WR at the 10 pick. There is some talent there and we could end up with the bet WR in the draft.
