Deangelo Deal Done?

DEANGELO DEAL DONE
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 18, 2008, 2:19 p.m.
Steve Wyche of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the much-anticipated Falcons-Raiders trade for cornerback DeAngelo Hall is essentially done.

The teams had already agreed that Atlanta would receive Oakland’s second- and sixth-round picks in the NFL draft, but the holdup had been whether the Raiders and Hall could reach an agreement on a long-term contract extension. Hall tells Wyche that the deal will get done.

“There is just some tweaking of the language that needs to be done, some minor details,” Hall said of contract negotiations. “No deal breakers.”

Falcons now have 4 of the first 48 picks in the draft.

Abraham must be next.

Apparently they are going with "If you have been to a Pro Bowl, we don't have a place for you here"

Coleman, Hall, Crumpler, Dunn... oh yeah, and Vick

Raiders | D. Hall's contract
Tue, 18 Mar 2008 15:17:28 -0700

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.com, reports Atlanta Falcons CB DeAngelo Hall could receive a contract from the Oakland Raiders for around seven years and $70 million, once the trade is finalized between the two teams. The team's are also discussing more compensation than just a second-round pick for the Raiders to acquire Hall.

The Raiders need to get their "carp" together, I didn't think they had enough cap room for that deal, unless its back-loaded.

if the falcons use those picks wisely they can be building for something good in the not so distant future. its a pretty deep draft, we'll have to see.

So you act like a complete idiot, alienate your coach and teammates, and get run out of town... bad news right?

Nope, give the guy $10 mil a year. Unbelievable.

Hall has never impressed me, as an elite shutdown cb. He talks alot, but most of the time I watched games where he played top wr's, he was getting burned alot. JMO.

I don't understand how Oakland can drop all this cash. They're over the cap, and isn't Jamarcus Russell due a 20 mil bonus in the next day or two? Something crazy like that....

I just don't understand how they can do this.

Well, Hall is now in a perfect place for him, and I am glad he is out of the NFC South.

The Raiders can drop the cash because they basically no longer give a crap about the future. Al Davis is going for broke and I wish more NFL teams did it his way. They will be fine with their cap for now. In a few years they will be screwed. That doesn't matter though, Al Davis is getting very old and has very limited time to win again. This guy is a true warrior that wants to win at all cost. All of the old farts in the NFL should consider the fact that they can't take their money with them after life is over, and I think Al Davis actually gets it.

Deal Done

Raiders acquired CB DeAngelo Hall from the Falcons in exchange for Oakland's 2008 second-round pick and 2009 fifth-round pick, and signed him to a seven-year, $70 million contract with $24.5 million guaranteed.

The sides were discussing a 2008 sixth in place of the '09 fifth, but Al Davis wanted Hall bad and Atlanta got its upgrade, albeit next year. Hall, 24, has the skills to be an elite corner, but tends to lose focus and control of his temper. He can be beat deep. The Raiders may be kicking themselves shortly for not giving this money to Nnamdi Asomugha, a far superior all-around player. Asomugha isn't one to complain, but this likely won't go over well with him.
