Re: Can the draft get here already!!!!!!

Dan Connor, Penn St., 6030, 233, 4.65 (ILB/OLB)
Blue collar. A tad undersized and needs to bulk up. Needs to improve pass coverage. Weakside prospect who carries a pro grade similar to Paul Posluszny's a year ago.

Quentin Groves, Auburn, 6030, 254, 4.57, (DE/OLB)
Groves has ideal size and athleticism to play the 3-4 OLB position at the next level. He could also continue to add bulk and play 4-3 pass-rush DE for some.

Erin Henderson, Maryland, 6028, 244, 4.73 (ILB/OLB)
Great size and speed and one of the top LB’s. He is a tough player. He is not as physically gifted as some of the other linebackers, but he is no slouch either.

Jerod Mayo, Tennessee, 6013, 242, 4.54 (ILB/OLB)
Undersized middle 'backer in a Cover 2 or on the weakside.
knee injury: missed the final 4 games of 2005 and playing through a knee injury at the end of 2006.

Cliff Avril, Purdue, 6030, 251, 4.51 (DE/OLB)
Great size to play linebacker and he can be an effective 4-3 defensive end. I really like this kid. If we tade back in round 2

Xavier Adibi Virginia Tech 6-13/4 232 4.69 (ILB/OLB/S)
Some NFL teams will look at Adibi's size and pick a stronger linebacker, but with his speed and agility, combined with the fact he is very aware of what is going on in front of him, makes him a solid pick for a weakside linebacker position. Adibi gets excellent depth on his pass drops, and a team could choose to convert him to strong safety.

Curtis Lofton, Oklahoma, 6000, 246, 4.78 (ILB)
Is top top middle linebacker available and one of the overall best linebackers in this draft.

Here is how I have them rated as a group for round 1/2. It all comes down to the second position they can play. I have problems with Lofton because he is strictly a ILB.

I've been on Connor for the past two years... love the guy. He's probably one of the safest picks in the draft. The only thing he doesn't have is superstar potential... but you know exactly what you're going to get from him. People tend to draft on upside... which is why other linebackers are rated higher than him. I would not be disappointed to see us "reach" for Connors. Barring injury, he'll be a hundred tackling machine for the next 10 years.

As far as the draft is concerned, I'm beyond ready to get this thing over with. It's not the suspense, it's just the long dragged out process. I'm ready for camp to start already.

I would bail out of 10 and fall way back into 1 and grab him. I really think the draft rankings are not telling you how good he is. There is nothing much to hype about a blue collar guy. I always like the lunch pail mentality for LBs. I would really be surprised to see him fall into the second like most have him. he is a solid top 20 pick.

man, thats a tough call.. Mayo was an OLB who moved to the middle b/c of lack of team depth at the position but he shined at MLB..
mainly cuz he had to...

i have to agree with papz about conner tho... the guy just makes plays.. i think he is the safest of the 2 but Mayo really has more upside.. i dont think you could go wrong with either pick but conner has always been a good player even when Paul Posluszny was there...

i think it will be interesting to see where the team that drafts Mayo will play him... MLB or OLB

if i had to pick one for the saints then i would take Mayo and play him on the outside.. he has great speed and would compliment vilma very well i think... though u couldnt go wrong either way
