Smith wants more money?
 

New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith is sitting out the team’s voluntary off-season workouts to show his displeasure with the status of negotiations on a contract extension, but Saints coach Sean Payton says there are no hard feelings, and he’s optimistic that Smith and the team can work out a deal.
“He’s one of the guys who has become a leader in that locker room,” Payton tells Jimmy Smith of the Times-Picayune. “I think for him it’s wanting to get a new deal and hey, all parties want that. It’s just a matter of sorting through and arriving at the right number.”

I think he needs a new deal, but he also needs to keep his end of the bargain. He didn't have a very good year last year and IMO has something to prove this season.

I agree with you... deserves more but if he holds out has a good year he can get way more. Although he probably feels Grant making bank for not doing a whole lot then I should make the same.

Mr Smith needs to get his chubby butt in the workouts, THEN ask for money. We don't need players with that kind of attitude.

After the sub par year he had last year, let him go get his money somewhere else, just not in the NFC south. Not good having two overrated DE's. Which is why if by some miracle Gholston falls to number 10 I would jump all over it.

You don't get better as a unit, if you continue to let your play makers go somewhere else. As bad of a year as Smith had, he is still one of the best players on this defense. Give him the deal, and get him and Grant a DT, that gets them back to rushing the QB. Not chasing screens, and tight ends.

Give him the money. Get him into camp and work his big butt off. No worries here.

Give him some of Grants money which he did not come close to earning! I can't blame him one bit for wanting more money. After all he has more sacks and production in the last 4 years than Grant by far!! Look at the numbers people!
