Spy gate was a success!!!!!!

New system in place for defensive signals
PALM BEACH, FLA. -- The NFL took the first step toward eliminating the temptation to videotape opponents' defensive signals by passing resolution G-4 on Tuesday, allowing coach-to-defense communication in the same fashion that has been in place for offenses since 1994.
"I think it's a good adjustment," Saints Coach Sean Payton said.

Ostensibly, with communication in place between defensive coaches and one player on the field, the need to signal in defensive calls with hand gestures would be eliminated in most circumstances.
The spying brouhaha surrounding the New England Patriots' taping of the New York Jets' signals last season likely spurred passing of this rule change, which has been suggested as recently as last spring but never approved.
The rule in place regarding offensive communication devices was amended to include a defensive speaker in the helmet of a designated player that will be identified by a visual marker, which last season was a bright green dot on the back of the quarterback's helmet.
Two defensive players can be designated to have communication devices in their helmets, but they cannot be in the game at the same time.
There will be a 5-yard illegal substitution penalty imposed if a player with a speaker in his helmet fails to properly report his presence in the game to an official.
ON THE AGENDA: Owners will consider several other proposals by the competition committee today, including elimination of the 5-yard facemask penalty, allowing teams to defer at the opening coin toss, and eliminating the current force-out rule on sideline pass plays.
A proposal by the Kansas City Chiefs to regulate the length of players' hair so that it doesn't extend over the names on the backs of jerseys is being tabled until the owner's meeting in May.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wants more input from the NFL Players Association before such a policy would be implemented. Goodell said he has been in contact with NFLPA Executive Director Gene Upshaw regarding players' unhappiness with the Chiefs' proposal.
"I just believe when we take in a policy like this and we deal with this, we should hear the players' perspective," Goodell said. "And I pledged to Gene that I would do that."
NO N.O. BID: Three cities -- Indianapolis, Houston and Arizona -- placed bids to host the next Super Bowl to be awarded, in 2012. Those will be considered at the meeting in Atlanta in May. New Orleans did not enter the bidding process for that year.

NOTES- NOLA.com

I hate to say it but I told you so. The results of the spy gate was just what the Pats and a almost majority of the NFL wanted. Radio in the helmets for the defense. This spy gate event was just the event to push enough owners over the edge to vote for the measure. Am I saying it was done on purpose? well maybe.

I guess the next thing is someone will figure out a way to intercept the communication between coach and player. Maybe even someone figuring out a way to jam the signal or something... LMAO

Well, if it's simple wireless broadcast communication, then intercepting (and even decrypting it) wouldn't be that much of a challenge. But even so I would imagine they communicate using codes from their own playbook rather than clear speech. So it should be relatively secure even if it is intercepted (ala the Patriots Spygate debacle).

It's a good move, though, long overdue, and it basically validates everyone's concerns about the Pats questionable tactics. I think it's safe to say, if there was questionable mud on their faces before, then there's full-blown bona fide fecal matter on their faces now. It's league validation of their questionable actions.
