Does Eli really think what he says matters to Shockey right now? I'm going with a big NO on this one. But I guess we will have to wait 2 weeks to see if we do anything on this issue.

Of course Manning is going to say that because the desired effect is to raise the price for Shockey.

Eli is absolutely saying the right thing, whether he means it or not. Why would Eli say something stupid like "I hope he is gone". There is a very good chance Eli will still be teammates with Shockey for many season. No reason for Eli to create any bad blood, at least publicly. I personally think Eli is hoping like crazy that Shockey is moved.
